Recently in malta there has been alot of controversy regarding the proposal of entrenching abortion into our constitution as a crime. Everyone argues but there doesn't seem to be a conclusion. Most people against take it in a context of religion and those for seem to only justify it in certain cases. Is it possible that there may be a go between? and most of all do we have the right to terminate the life of an unborn child?

Here in Australia we have a choice , but my beliefs in the matter it is up to the to the woman if she is single and up to the both parties if a couple !! If I was raped I would terminate the pregnacy myself !!

I am totally against it.But in some situation it is unavoidable. Before doing it,we have to consider the situation behind it.

Honestly since I had an abortion about 10yrs ago I do believe it is a choice. I think that there are times that things are out of our controll and we need to decide what is best for us in the long run.

I sure hope you are a LIBERAL in the United States.
Personally, I am PROCHOICE...I have always chosen life. I could have aborted my wonderful son. I didn't....but my first husband wanted me to.
Liberals or those who believe in abortions call their decisions PROCHOICE...it's not.
The more LIBERALS in the United States who abort mean there will be less LIBERALS later.

No, Kurtdon, I do not believe that there could possibly be a go between between the act of abortion no matter what pplatform you stand on.
Murder in our country, USA is a major donar in the act of murder. And we are forever crying out 'why is all this crime and hate going on in this nation?'because we are responsible for commiting murders daily and we are quilty and we must pay for our crimes.
The voices of the murdered infants are crying out for justice.

I think abortion is a horrid and uncouth practice used mostly by selfish people who do not choose to be responsible for their actions. A baby is the sweetest, most precious thing in the world. They are God's gift, to be protected and loved, nourished and cared for until they are at an age to care for themselves. Anyone who says that a fetus is not a human life is only fooling themselves. It's the same as when you sow a seed. You nourish that seed and it will one day become a plant, a fruit or vegetable, or a beautiful flower. Abortion should be banned all over the world.

Abortion should be a crime. When they legalized abortion they gave the baby a right to die and the mother a right to take that life. With every abortion another life is taken. Is abortion murder? IN my eyes it is. Is murder a crime, yes! Should abortion be seen as a crime? Yes!

hmmm...In my opinion, the only middle ground wherein abortion can be allowed would be if the mother's life is in danger if she doesn't have the pregnancy terminated. Other instances where abortion is considered is if continuing the pregnancy would mean an offspring who is incompatible with life meaning the baby can't survive outside the womb. Now, I know pro-choice people would disagree, no other reasons other than the two stated above should be accepted in having an abortion. Yes, it's the woman's body and all but does that mean she also owns the baby and that it doesn't have any say? Okay, you got me, I am pro-life. I just hate the fact that people get knocked up and don't have the decency to go through the whole process. Abortion without a valid reason is a crime. I don't think there should be any discussion about that. We've become a society of people who can't say what's on their minds because we are afraid that we might hurt the feeling of others or if maybe our views differ from them. Let's all call a spade a spade. Killing a human being is a crime. Abortion is a crime.

Honestly, every child born has a purpose in life, even the ones created fom a rape. i know that sounds bad, but it's a human life people! atleast have the baby and give it up for adoption so it will have a chance to make something ut if him/herself.

This is always going to be a controversy issue, because the religion says it is a crime and the unreligious people think that a person can decide what is best for himself.
Yesterday me and a good friend of mine, looked up at the net about this issue, and we saw some awful sites that were against abortions. The pictures that they put in this site and the things that have been said there were terrible, and i really think that this site should be closed.
Yes, i do understand the people that are saying that people do not have a right to stop the gift that god gave us, and we do not have the right to kill anything or anyone. But still if a young women gets preganent, if a women gets raped and gets pregnant, if a women thinks that she does not have the financial means to have a child, and he will have a terrible life, and if a women things that she does not want children, who are we to tell them that they can not do that.
I think a child should be wanted, and in this modern world i really think that every women should have a right to decide what she wants to do with this child, and her body.
After all the moment thatthis child is going to be born she is going to be the one that has to take care of him, and deal with the consequances, and no one else.

I think it is both. If it's a crime, then the person decides to go with it.

Abortion is really a crime, of course we have to face it friends. You just killed a human being inside a stomach of a mother. Why would a women got a pregnancy if they just don't want a child? That is really ridiculous.

Abortion has been identified as a crime here in our country. I have nothing against those who had done it but I, personally believe that life starts in conception. I think it would be unfair for the unborn not to even see the world he/she is suppose to belong.

Abortion is a crime.I strongly opposes it.killing an unborn child is a sin.People has a lot of options to take away from pregnancy, then what is the need of abortion.Abortion can be a choice only if it threatens the life of the mother.

abortion is not a choice it is a crime. how can a women afford to kill his own child no matter what the situation is .that child have a life and he or she have the right to live. remember that the bible taught us that "thou shall not kill".

Well, it depends on the situation. There are cases when we can consider abortion as okay. Like if you are pregnant but it can harm you. So I think in that case abortion is okay. But if it is just because the mother is not yet ready then I think that is a sin to abort the baby.

I personally dont agree with abortion... MAybe if in the case like of eptopic pregnancy, I would agree... but just becuse the mother is too young and not yet reasy...whatever the reason may be.. the baby is alive and should be given his chance to live...

I could never have an abortion but thats my choice. I do not believe in abortion but for certain reasons I would agree with someone such as if they were raped and ended up pregnant.
Also at the moment here in Dublin there is a big court thing over a girl who is pregnant and was in the care of the health services. She found out last week that the baby has something wrong with it and will not live more than 3 days after it is born. She decided to have an abortion but the health services will not allow her to travel to the UK for an abortion. She has brought them to court to get the judge to let her go. In these cases, then she should be allowed.
