I became a grandmother when I was 36, 18 years ago. Shortly after this event I bought myself a sports car...a Nissan EXA Turbo. Complete with line decals, rear spoiler, sunroof and pop-up headlights (it was this feature that clinched my decision to buy this vehicle). It was a beaut little car, a real head turner and I loved the car and the attention it brought me.
I had travelled to Sydney to attend a nephew's christening and returning home, a drive of about 5 hours (4 for me) I had my daughter and grandson in the back and my Mum in the front.
There was a wonderful wide stretch of road at about the halfway home point with a slight rise going for a couple of klms. This was a really good road, well maintained, wide and not much traffic. Except that day there were about 6 cars ahead of me. I eased into the overtaking lane and cruised past all of them. Within moments there was a police car alongside me, gestering me to pull over. (I have no idea where he came from...he must have been going in the opposite direction and chucked a u-ey to catch me.) The speed limit for this area was 110kph. I'd been doing about 145kph...effortlessly. He took my licence and returned to his vehicle. He was gone for ages and when he returned I mentioned that I'd never been booked before. He said "I know, I just checked" He looked at Mum, my daughter and grandson and said "I'm booking you at 115 kph." I said thanks and off we went. He was a nice bloke.
When I received my ticket in the mail, I wrote a very repentant letter. I got out of the fine and also did not have the offence recorded. All I got was a warning. YAY!!
18 years later I still have a clean licence. I've been driving for 32 years.

Memorable experience?? Speeding ticket! No way! I can only remember being mad at getting caught and pulled over! The last time which was 2 years ago (knock on wood) I was almost home- I had green paint all over my hands- and I was picking it off- I had just left craft class. When the cop pulled me over- he asked me where I was headed to in such a hurry! I hate that- I said I’m going to my grandmothers to pick up my granddaughter- I’m 34! I meant I was going to my moms to pick up my daughter- LOL He felt bad for me and wrote a bogus one- No points and no insurance impact! lol

A friend of mine was going 45 in a 35. She got pulled over and tried to tell the cop that she was not doing more then 40 and that is what he should write on the ticket.
He told her this was not 'Let's make a deal' and he wrote the ticket out for 45. At least he had a sense of humor.

I was 16, pulled out of a little country store spinning gravel. State Trooper was a half-mile up the road and unfortunely, it was a straight stretch and he seen me pull out. He followed me for three miles and busted me for doing 95 in a 55. How Rude is that?
