I have read through the responses from other Mylotters. Here I would like to add one more. Better not install a pirated windows xp. It gets a computer easily infected.

I feel so bad that your comuter is not installed with an authentic XP. That's why it get infected so easily. I often have the same problem as you have. I am just wondering why it is so expensive to get an authentic one. That's why the pirated stuff has its popular market. Something must be done to the price of the authentic stuff. It is too high.

I have a very good scheme to protect against viruses. I have applied it for 4 years, and not a single virus has affected my computer.
Well, I am not going to tell anymore about the need to install antivirus and firewall. You need to have it first.
Then, create a second user in windows who is not granted with administrator privileges. So, whenever you surf net or do anything, use this lesser privileged account. This way, virus cannot access your system folders and cannot propagate. When you want to run installation files or do administrative works, you can still do it with "RUNAS" command, still sitting in local user account.
This single method can minimize chances of viral infection quite a lot.

You are absolutely right Ronney47, that simple trick makes it a lot harder to be a computer virus.

That's so bad to have virus. The thing you have to do is install a anti-virus and anti-spyware, A firewall is also necessory. Or you can have a Linux OS which has less chance to be attacked. For me I use Zonealarm, which has all the security features you need.
