Well, I believe that "easy comes, easy goes" lol I want to have your rich opinion about the subject. I am working in an organization for last almost 7 years. I made a reasonable progress here with reasonable increment too. But whilst on job here I have seen many people coming & going to other organization for a significant rise ... even almost double. But then most of them were those who were in tension due to onward SLOW progress. Do you suggest that I should switch over to other job for good increase or I must stay here with hope to be good like "old is gold"? What would you OPT.. if you are asked to switch over for good salary but unknown future career?

Hi, aliasad. In my opinion, the most important opinion is not the money, but the chance for you to develop in this organization. If you can learn a lot, take on more and more responsibilty, have clear way of career development opportunity, you should choose stay, I think. On the other side, if you don't have any chance to develop in this organization, to do the same job day after day, I suggest you to find a better film to work in. Think above it, hope you have a good career!

Switching jobs for salary is a bad idea cos it can backfire hugely but if you switch because you see a genuinely better offer and you would be happy doing it then there is no problem

I was in the same sort of situation. The retail job I was in was comfortable - I liked my colleagues but not really the job I had to do. I was reluctant to change. One day I got so fed up I called into another place on my way home and asked if they had any vacancies. The trouble was the jobs they had were not guaranteed past 3 months when a new machine was going to be installed. What should I do? Stay where I was unhappy or risk not having a job in 3 months. I decided to jump ship and take the new job. It worked out for the best in the end. We were kept on after the 3 months and 5 years later I am still there. I can only say it is a very difficult decision. Is it a case of the grass being always greener or should you follow your heart. I do not feel able to instruct you but I hope you are happy with whichever you decide.

If you think seven years of working has rewarded you enough then I think you should stay on. And if you also think that a few years of waiting wouldn't hurt and that in a few more time progress for you (in terms of salary or promotion or whatever) will be more available then you should definitely stay to justify your seven-year efforts. But if however you think that there are more rewarding opportunities out there and you have seen them first-hand then you should consider getting out. It is important that you have seen personally other people prosper with their getting out decision rather than listen to testimonies. You should also feel secure with the job you're yearning for. You wouldn't want to leave your current job for nothing. I suppose that my post has everything to do with your perception. So think about what you perceive as pros and cons before jumping boats.

It's true that everyone needs money. But it's not true that one should opt for anything to earn it.I thinkyou should pay attention to what you want....more money or job satisfaction ?If you r satisfied with your job you will automatically get oppurtunity to earn more.If you r not satisfied....whatever big salary you draw will not stop you from running company to company. And in this way you will never be able to get promotions and ultimately you will earn money but without job satisfaction, without mental satisfaction etc. You will feel bored with your life someday and that is not good for your health. So think what you want and then decide.Talking of progress....well....if you can become the best participant of the organisation for their growth...no one can stop your progress.

Yes job satisfaction is the thing that concerns most. It would take time but consistent growth is necessary. I do believe that money is required to everyone but all of us have our own level of contendedness, isn't it? Thanks for response!

if ur not satisfied with ur current job, and if u believe that u have the capibility of doing good in another job, then just go for it!! u said that u fear the unknown....but then i dont understand why do people fear the unknown when they dont know what it is? Lol!...it could be anything...something that is much more than ur expectations...and one should always hope for the best. but then try this out only of uve got some kind of financial security...as nothing works out without proper planning!all the best:)

If I have to answer that, then I'll go for future career..! And yes I strongly belive in "easy comes, easy goes" You can run for easy ways whole of your life but today or tomorrow you'll "have to" go for the harder road..!If you "want" a good future..!!! So why not take the hard road today itself as at this young age we have that stamina also to take up the harder job.. so that we can lead our older weak days of age easily without any hard work..!! I'll prefer working hard at my younger age rather than working hard in my older days of life..! All the best.

Figure out what you really like to do and what you might be able to excel at. Don't worry too much about the money. Look for work or create your own work that is satisfying and meaningful to you. If you end up doing work you dont't really enjoy, no amount of money will make your job better. When you do work you really like, you will do it well and therefore secure a brighter future and career.

A dilemma, indeed. I think the most important thing to consider is why you are working. Are you working for the money only, or for the benefits [insurance, etc.], or because you feel you are making a difference, or . . . . Once you know why you are working it is easier then to consider what path you want your career to take. And when you are faced with choices you need to know what your values are and how each alternative matches your values. For instance, if you take a job only because it pays more and your most important value is your family. You will have to know how much time you will be required to give to the job and thus how much you will have left for your family. But if you take a job to please someone else - spouse, parent, etc. - and it requires that you do what is in conflict with your values, then you will be miserable no matter how much it pays. If it matters a great deal to you that other people see you as "successful", then you will make choices based on what those other people want you to do or be, no matter what else you may prefer doing. Guarranteed unhappiness. Have a hard look at what is really important to you and it will make your decision making easier.

Well, certainly there would be some domestic factors involved that made me to be contended hmmm I would admit frankly! What I feel is that I had so many reasons but now since I don't have much at the time, I am planning to move but ... still, Okay I think over again. Thanks for a very nice advice indeed.

I want to add one sentence here, 'to gain something one has to take some risk'. If you are satisfied with your job, your earnings, your work atmosphere, your staffs etc you better stay with the same organization. It's your loyalty to the organisation. This is a very good situation. But in practical life of today's highly competitive and fast growing world these situations are in dream jobs only. Whether you are highly paid or not it is not the main thing, the job satisfaction in whole is to be considered. Man should be opportunistic. So try for good opportunity wherever you get. Unless you go for a change I think you can't get experience of the world outside your organisation. Feel the competition, be in the competition fray to win the challenge in your jobs. Accept some new challenges for the sake of your own growth. Old is Gold but the world is round you have to be go around to get into the modern fast developing, fast changing world or you will one day find yourself in a situation trapped inside the debris of modern world. Money is not all important, career is more important try to build career it will pay you money.

i think instant income is also necessary for servive in the long run ur experience to count. i can understant i n jobs its hard to get incriment and how far we can put our dreams to come true i will suggest you to go for instant income as much u can earn and learn to invest money for future. because by doing job u would never be satisfied as per as money is concern.

Well.. if i am in the same situation i may consider of doing both if it doesn't require any full attention. I mean why not just grab the opportunity but then again being in the field for 7 years or so it will be a big risk if you'd just let it go in a snap and then switch because of much better compensation but an unknown future. Overall why not just make other sidelines to increase ones income!

My Opinion is if you enjoy the Job then do not leave When you go for another one there is always a risk that you might not make it in that Job, that you might not meet their Requirements so then you have no Job But again if you do not like where you are and you want to take the risk then do it I used to love my Job so I stayed in it and also it is so hard now to get Jobs here

Well in most cases this is true that easy come, easy go as we try to make some easy money but if we worked harder for our money therefore we would appreciate our money more. It all depends how happy you are and if you believe that you are receiving the money that you deserve from where you work, as it is not all about money you should be happy where you work.

I think you should keep in mind that a career will improve ypur financial situation a lot in the future, you now might need the money but yopu future will be then uuncertain unless you make big bucks right now and then open like a store or a small business.

I think i will prefer to the good salary because if i have a good salary i will save it and invest or make a small business and you said about unknown future so if your company got bankrupt or lost then you have your business and you can find another job also.Because i think now adays we need to be practical and spend our time wisely.

For me, just follow where your passion is. If you love what you're doing inspite and despite of all the negative thngs around you, then that will be good. Take also your considerations in deciding what you will do. Are your considerations enough for you to change your decisions? Analyze the situation first. Make a list of advantages and disadvanatages of the choices you'll have. Think not only twice before you decide. Remember that your inner satisfaction should be set first because that will mean big in the long run. Money just come and go and it can be earned. But happiness and contentment brought by passion is really hard to find. If you find it, never let it go. You'll never know if it will come back to you.

Well I think that if you truly love your job then stay but if not and the money is good then go for it and take a risk it might be the best thing youve ever done. But i would also consider hours and things like that too because I believe that spending time with your family is the most important thing.
