If you're an established Canadian author, then I've got a great opportunity for you!
This opportunity arose during a meeting I had in downtown Hamilton, Ontaro yesterday with a fellow author from Austria. I really didn't know what to expect when a banker/international financier contacted me through Zing.com and asked if he could meet with me. Dr. Armin J. Kammel simply said he'd like to meet a fellow author while he was in our city.
As it turns out, Dr. Kammel is also the Secretary General for the Austrian-Canadian Society based in Vienna. He explained his purpose as that of helping Austrians get to know about Canadians and vice versa.
I conducted a search this morning and there is a web site at: http://www.austria-canada.com. There is also a Canadian site to promote Austria in Canada at: http://www.austrianclub.ca/TheClub.htm and this organization is based in Calgary, Alberta.
On both sites, members receive regular newsletters about upcoming events, important information and subjects of interest to the community. The last noted is where Canadian authors stand to gain. As I stated earlier, Dr. Kammel is an author. However, what he writes is very technical material suitable for industry professionals, university students and academia in general. But as an author, he knows how difficult it is to become known outside of one's own country.
His offer to me was this: "I want to promote your books on our web site, so maybe you can sell some copies in Austria."
Apparently, he was quite intrigued with the subject matter of two of my books in particular. He said he felt both Playing With The Devil, a true story of child abuse and "Glimpses 2" It Could Happen To You!, which contains 90 true stories of the paranormal were both topics that would interest folks in Austria.
I, of course, asked him what he would like me to do in return to reciprocate for his kindness. He responded, "Nothing. I would just like to do this for you," which amazed me since I had never met this man before. Naturally, I wanted to do something, so I suggested connecting him with other established Canadian writers who have written books on a variety of subjects that might interest people in his country.
The only catch to this is that you must have your books listed on Amazon.com so interested buyers can easily access them.
This is a wonderful opportunity for Canadian authors to get their books into the European market. If interested, please contact me at: marthajette@yahoo.com and I will forward your information on to Dr. Kammel. Please include all the details on your book, a link to Amazon.com and an email address where he may contact you.
Of course, it will be up to Dr. Kammel to decide if he believes Austrians would be interested in your topic, so you might want to discuss that in your letter as well.
Good luck!
