I am kind of a ditz when it comes to the whole technical aspect of photography. I'm looking into buying a pink Sony Cybershot DSC-W55 which does not come with a memory card. Can any of you advise me on what kind of memory card that I need? I know what amount of storage space I need, just not what brand and type and stuff like that.

Hi, I hope my response is not too late. Your camera can read Memory Stick Pro and Memory Stick Pro Duo cards. Don't buy the plain Memory Stick because that uses a different technology. Good luck!!! =)

I do not like Sony Digital Cameras because they use a propertary battary and a Special card called a Memory Stick. Make sure you have an extra battary and memory stick as they are not readily available if you travel around.

Sony Cybershot line of cameras usually use the Pro Sticks Memory card. Don't get other types of memory cards as they just may not be suitable. Just take your camera to any camera shop and they will get one for you. As for how much storage, that is up to you. These days the best for anyone is either 512Mb or 1Gb. I'm sure your camera manual also specific this.
