Do you think Kate Ritchie will win the gold logie for her performance as "Sally Fletcher" in the long running soap opera?
She is apparently in the "Guiness Book of World Records" for the longest running character in a soap opera drama, along with Ray Meaghr (Alf Stewart) & Norman Coburn (Mr. Fisher/Flathead) - although he has left now.
I think that the scenes where she was attacked at the end of the series were fantastic, and I for one would like to see her win.
Yes, I did vote for her, twice.
For those who don't know, the Logie is an award for television in Australia, similar to the Emmy in USA.

Yeh I wouldn't mind seeing her get the Logie but personally I think some of them are rigged, but that is just my opinion, just some things I have noticed over the years. yes i really would like to see Kate get one we have all watched her grow up and she is a good little actress.

Well, as we all know she did win it this year. I half thought that they would give it to Rove because of what happened in his personal life. Kate Ritchie has been around on television in Australia for a very long time, and unlike some of the others she hasn't left our shores seeking fame and fortune overseas.
The one thing is that I always have some doubts about the voting for these awards. Some years it does seem that some very unlikely people win, and I for one cannot see what they have done to deserve it. I do not think for one moment that it should be awarded to an actor or actress or media personality based on how long they have been around on Australian television. It should be based solely on their performances during the year in question.
A sympathy vote for a person, regardless of why the vote is made, is not valid enough in my opinion. I know that when John Woods won it, the talk was about how long he had been around but not received a Gold Logie. Hello there, he wasn't the best one for those years that he never received it.

Hi, Oh yes I do believe that Kate Ritchie may just win the gold logie she was an extremely good actor, some of the performances that Kate did were absolutely wonderful and I do not think that anyone could really act the way that she did.

I would have preferred for Rachel Carpani to get it as she just left McLeod's Daughters. The last few weeks she was in it were fabulous shows. I was bawling and got really caught up in the excitement and drama of it all.
I'm no longer a fan of Home and Away. I'm usually here while it's on...lol. The only show i stop to watch is McLeod's Daughters. So saying, I missed this weeks episode...dang!

I enjoy watching Home & Away and like the way Sally's character has developed over the years. I doubt she is the longest running character in a soap operat though unless you mean longest running character in just Home & Away, there are soaps in the UK which have been running for years such as Coronation Street which has been running since 1960 and there's one character in that show who's been there since it started and others who've been in the show longer that Kate Ritchie has been alive :)
