I live in a pretty small town so that amount could actually do a lot of good. I would help strangerS. I would purchase a bunch of inexpensive, nonperishable food and take it to the food bank. The rest I would donate to the crisis pregnancy center or buy stuff to donate to the center. You can buy a lot of dry goods and canned goods with $500 and the other half could buy some car seats or a bunch of diapers or formula.
What would you do?

If I had $1,000 to give away there is only one charity I would give it to....the Make-a-Wish Foundation. For those who have never heard of it, it is an organization that fulfills one wish of a child who is terminally ill or has a life-threatening illness. I have seen a few of the stories of these children and it just tears your heart out. The one i remember most is the little girl who wanted to meet President Clinton. Make-a-Wish made it possible but the day marked for the visit she became ill. However, she managed to get up enough strength to make a short visit to the oval office. It was really touching. Actually, the other day I won a $1 in the freelotto and got the chance to give it to the foundation. It wasn't much but by the time I got the check and then sent it to my bank in the states it wouldn't have been worth more than .30 cents, if that, after paying the postage. At least my $1 might buy a child an ice cream if he wishes for a trip to Disneyland.
For more information on this foundation go to www.worldwish.org I'm sure they would appreciate it.
