How do you feel when you are driving with a police car right behind you?

Does it make you nervous when a police car is right behind you, regardless if their lights are on or not? Do you not pay attention to him or her or do you change lanes to see if they go by? I have to admit it makes me nervous when an officer is right behind me but make sure I am driving properly.

Hello,kgwat70,when i am driving with a police car behind me,i will feel some pressure as i have to follow the traffic rules 100% or i will be fined by them.I will try to slow down a bit if i notice that i am nearly to the speed limit. I do not want to get caught of speeding from the police behind. It will be embarassing.

It is tough not feeling pressure when there is a cop right on our tail. I too make sure I follow the rules much more when I see a cop behind me. I got caught speeding when I was much younger but it was from a speed trap.

yeah I think everyone feels some kind of pressure or nervousness, even if we know we did nothing wrong ... I think we are always scared he ight find something wrong, like maybe a stop light not working that we had not even noticed I usually go on my "bestest" behavior ... lol

It does make me wonder what they are thinking when they are behind another car. They could be running our plates to see if we have done something wrong or if we are currently doing something wrong. That is good that you are on your best behavior. LOL

I get nervous as well! I don't know why...just because they have so much power I guess. I always obey the laws but I still get nervous!! I don't change lanes or anything, I don't want them thinking I am trying to get away from them =) Silly yes but I get all nervous and stuff!!

I guess I might start thinking if I had done sometimes wrong. Quite likely, I will unconsciously slow down and run through in my mind that I am indeed sticking to all the rules. :P

I don't like when they are right behind me, or even right in front of me! I just make sure to do the speed limit and follow all the laws carefully when they are behind me. So far i've never been pulled over, so that's good! But I dont like it, it makes me nervous and like they are watching my every move. My husband is a cop, and I'm sure he will disagree with everything I said, as he never seems to pull people over :)

Oh, I hate that! I'll be driving the speed limit, seatbelt on, and still feel nervous if there is a police car following me. I've heard it's called "black and white fever." I do try to change lanes to see if they pass.

It always makes me nervous when there is a cop right behind me. I always hope that they will go around and go catch the bad guys out there. One time it helped to have one behind me as my car broke down a couple summers ago and he helped me get to the side of the road.

It makes me nervous and more aware of how I am driving. I have only ever gotten one ticket so I am not sure what it is that makes me that way.

I thought I was the only one that gets nervous. I hate when they are behind me, even though I am not doing a thing wrong. But, I become more so alert, as I do not need a ticket.

Well, we probaly all do the same thing. We slow down below the speed limit. LOL And hope he passes rather quickly. LOL We were driving in Kansas a few years ago. A police car was in front of a very long line of cars. We were laughing because everyone was driving so slow. When the policeman pulled off, all the traffic speed up. LOL It was so funny

I think many of us do feel nervous with a cop right behind us, even though we are following the rules. I keep hoping that he or she will just go around me.

I will be quite tied and I will hope the police car will overtake me and move on. It will then be a great relieve for me.

Isn't it funny? I get that same lump in my throat, even when I'm already following the traffic rules 100%. I always think, though, how annoyed policemen must get. The second they get behind someone, the person slows way down and drives like a little old lady. How do policemen ever get anywhere? *laugh*

I feel the same way..If a police car was following me, I would feel nervous even if I knew I was driving carefully.

I try to be calm as possible and drive normally. I do not drive like a speed demon and I do use my blinkers/signals as I should. So, I tell myself that I have no reason to be worried. But at the same time, I do have a flash go through my mind wondering if I did something without realizing it. Maybe I didn't see the speed limit sign change. Or maybe one of my lights are out and I could get in trouble even though I did not know. I have been pulled over for a brake light being out. And I was so nervous, I guess that is why it pops into my head. Thankfully, I was given a warning and sent on my way. But I try to reassure myself that all is fine and they eventually pass by. :)

Isn't it bizarr that even if you are doing nothing wrong, police driving behind you make you nervous! I'm with you in that I always check everything and indicate properly etc etc. I give them no excuse to pull me over.
