Do characters or qualities of a movie lose any meaning or power when they are marketed a certain way? there is the simple difference between "Indie" and Hollywood and the types of marketing involved in the production and promotion of the film. Ontop of that some movies and products are married for mutual promotion.
Marketing in effect is a comment on the viewership does this extend to the artistic content or merit of the movie itself?

Yes, the marketing campaign is very important. They can sell a very stupid films just because of inteligent marketing campaign. Most of the public likes to be manipulated on this way. And one marketing campaign depends of many factors. Some of the Cinema productions sell themselves just because of the trade mark of the firm Holliwood.
