well in another discussion of mine i told you all i was doing a sponsored hike for charity, i was really looking forward to doing this hike untill i came back from seeing my mum and i seen my rota at work, work has put me down to work the night shift before the walk then do the walk then do the night shift after the walk this means no sleep for 2 days, they have no consideration for me at all so i have said i am not doing the walk no more, i know its for charity and i really wanted to do it but i think i should look after my health too.
what would you do in my situation?

Mel, this is not your fault, and earning a living is your priority, so please don't feel bad about it.
I know it's not the same as doing the hike, but please keep my donation and pass it on to those who are organising the event, as your sponsor money. ok, sweetheart? I know how much you were looking forward to this and I know that if you were able you would have been out there with the others having fun doing it. So, my sponsorship still stands.
You take care, sweetie and get your sleep. You can't stay awake for forty eight hours and give your best.
Brightest Blessings and thanks for telling us the situation. x

you did the right decision mel. your health comes first. what do they all think? you are only human and helping others is good, but not if it goes to your health. there maybe another event to do this, when you have more time for it. i dont understand your bosses, they have no sense for charity it seems.

Have you complained about it? If they knew that you were doing the sponsored hike, & did this anyway, it shows that someone either does not care about charity stuff or something. I probably would have done the same thing, & then blame the company that you're working for. I'm sure it would not look very nice for them being that the charity organization is losing out because of this.

I'm now thinking ... make whoever put together that schedule do that sponsored hike. Too bad you cannot program an auto-tazer to keep 'em moving.

Sounds like they knew but didn't care. I still think you should talk to whoever made the schedule & have them change it, telling them exactly what you just said.

Hi Mel, yes I remember you talking about the hike in one of your last discussions but how are you supposed to do that and work night shifts I do not think so love, as it would take too much out of you. Oh yes I think that you are very wise to look after your health first Mel. I would do the same as you are going to do not do the charity walk.

I think your place of employment isn't very charity minded to do this to you when you are trying to do something nice for someone else. They really are not very nice.I hope you let the charity know why you can not doing it because Darlin you can not do it and go without sleep..I would boycott the place if i was near you ...that would help them to be more charitable next time...

I think I would have done the same thing you did. Although I would have been pretty upset with the person making the work schedule. That was not very nice of them to be so inconsiderate of you like that. But your health definitely takes top priority.

if i was in your situation mel i would see if i could get a holiday day off work if you really are determined to do the sponsored walk. whatever you do dont make yourself too tired as you might become ill with not getting enough sleep. good luck with what you choose
