First I want to Thank You to everyone who is responsible for praying for me. I have not been feeling well at all. I was told after having a CT scan
I had a large vessel grown through my brain. I was told I needed an MRI right away. I did that. I was told I would get reimbursed, now I'm told No because I had to be preapproved. No one told me that. NOW the big news. My daughter came to where I live to go in with me for my results. I was so tense you can just imagine. The first thing the doctor asked me was how was I. I told him I was running scared as hell. He told me not to be because the MRI was good and I didn't need to worry but I still need to see the Neurologist when ever I can get in. I asked about the large vessel I was told had grown through my brain, where is it? The doctor said he thinks it was just the way I was laying on the table when they did the CT scan. How many ways are there to lay on the table? I was on my back obviously. I've never felt so mixed up in my life. The ringing in my left ear is so bad I can hardly go to sleep. In my opinion our health care is no longer health care. Has anyone heard of anything like this before? Please answer if you have and Thank You in advance from confused Grandmaof2.

Grandma,
I am sorry this is such a hard time for you. I was told today that my CAT scan came back clean - that the mass previously found on my lung was now gone. my first impulse was TAKE ANOTHER make sure - but you know? I truly have to believe it is by the Grace of the Good God and accept His gift without questioning.
I hope you find some resolution and peace in your trials.

I hope that everything straightens out for you grandmaof2. I have to say that I am with Modestah. It is the Grace of God that the MRI showed nothing. God is good. As for the non payment on the part of the insurance company, you should look into disputing this charge because no one gave you that information. Take care and feel better, I am still praying for you to be well.

Hello Grandmaof2. I have never heard of such thing. As far as I know MRI is better than a CT scan. Gives a clearer picture of fuzzy things. The MRI should have showed a clearer large vessel if there was one in the first place. I don't know how else one should lay down during a CT scan but no matter, it doesn't change the size of an enlarged vessel. Or does it?Could it be that someone totally misread what was on the CT scan. This happens a lot - no surprises there. I pray you do get well soon. If only it was inexpensive maybe you should get more MRIs or whatever is better than that. For all we know, the ringing in your ear could be caused by an entirely different location and not in your brain. Thanks and hugs and prayers for you.

As I previously said I'm not well enough educated to know how this modern equipement works but we were told the MRI machines are very acurate and don't lie, so hubby thinks the people running the CT Scan at the hospital just simply don't know what they are doing. Either way it scared the crap out of me.

Oh grandmaof2, I do hope everything turns out well with the neurologist. Thank God you dont need to be scared no more coz the MRI says you're clean and free from any large vessel in the brain. It's ok Grandmaof neither am I too well versed with these medical procedures doctors let patients undergo. Take care.

Hi Grandmaof, No I have never heard anything so ridiculous from any doctor that is appauling how can they do that to you of course when you have a cat scan you are laying on your back there is no other position to lay in when you have this test as I have already had one myself. I have been praying for you and hopefully that the doctor does not have this wrong and that you will be alright it must be a big worry and concern for you when they do like this to you.

Hi Grandmaof2, hope all is well.
I am so sorry that you have had such a hard and stressful time with this. Strange that the vessel has now disappeared. Because as you said how could you have been laying on the table wrong? I really hope that it is gone though and that everything is okay. Your in my heart and in my thoughts hun, please take care and keep us posted.

For a Health system to be so unsupportive of its community is disgraceful but unfortunately this is happening in too many places and far too often. There have been some good comments in the difference between CT scan and MRI and just to put it a bit simpler, CT scans are more commonly and give better results on bone structure and MRI are specifically targeting soft tissue and growths.
Seeing the Neurologist will hopefully give you the answers that you really need to hear, for one to try and put your mind at rest and two, to get the required treatment you require, but from my past experiences with the Health system for myself personally, it is all about demanding answers and even 2nd. or 3rd. opinions, but also depends on the availabilty of those who can give you these answers, which makes it even more frustrating.
In the meantime my thoughts are with you, and look forward to hearing some good results very soon. xx

Best of luck Grandmaof2 and stay focused on what you need to achieve for yourself and the answers and results you want! Be strong and ask as many questions as you feel necessary to put your mind at ease. All this worry will not help your Migraines!

Hi Grandma, these kinds of things happen so often and it is really horrible for patients. I would demand that someone place the two results side by side on a viewbox and show me that what was seen on the CT is indeed missing on the MRI. MRIs have much more detailed results, especially with soft tissues. Was your MRI done with contrast? (an IV in your arm) I wouldn't stop until I found someone who could put my mind at ease! That is your right as a patient! Perhaps if you do get in with a neurologist he/she can be proactive in helping you pin the folks to the wall about the conflicting results!

They did use an IV to do the CT Scan but not the MRI. I'm somewhat relieved to know these things happen from time to time but I'm still suffering the migraines and as you can guess I'l still somewhat scared.

This is so wrong, You are not well and that is as plain as the nose on you face, Was he saying the MRI found nothing as that is wonderful news, But from the sound of it there is still a problem, Is there any way you can de-stress your self?I hope you are able to get into and see the neurologist and soon. Mind you again you have to be careful who you see there as well, The first neurologist I saw spent 8 minutes with me and said there was nothing wrong with me The second one actually did some tests in his office and said yes there was something wrong, but he wasn't sure what it was, So I hate to tell you this but your journey may not be over, still more round and doctors to see. But I can tell you this stress will cause all sorts of problems and you appear to be under a ton of it. I do so wish I were near enough to visit and hold your hand. You are not alone, not as long as you and I can talk via the computer. Please dear friend take care of your self. I will wait as long as it takes for you to answer this is one that you are never obligated to do. Robin

I'm afraid I don't have experience with this but something similar with my son who 'messed up' his hand a week and a half ago. Emergancy room said it was fractured but couldn't do anything because of swelling, put on a half cast and said to check with our doctor in a few days which we did. Doctor said 'exray from ER was negative no fracture but come back in a week if still having problems'. Did that and although the ER said they would send x-rays to our doctor they hadn't, doctor's office didn't tell us that the first visit but second they re x-rayed then said they couldn't do anything until they had the first to compare to but they don't read them would have to send both together to have them read. Son and I went to hospital records, hand carried original x-rays to the doctor's office - 3 days and still haven't heard anything, they said they would call, and he's still having trouble with his hand... What a mess, no answers, he's hurting and getting ready to leave the state for the summer - going to work with his oldest brother for the summer.... I think our health care stinks...

Proves to me there's crappy health care all over the world not only here. With exray equipement we have these days it should be pretty straight forward, Yes or No to a fracture. Makes you wonder alright!!!

I am so sorry that you are going through this. It is frightening to have to wait for the results and then to be told "oh, it must have been the way you were laying on the table", now you are not only out the money but you still have no answers and more frustration. I tend to agree with you on the fact that healthcare is not the same as it used to be. It is sad but true. The doctors don't care as much as they used to, they care more about their yacht or getting to the golf course on time rather than making sure their patients are taken care of and not scared out of their wits! I hope this gets resolved for you soon and until then you will be in my thoughts! Take care!

I am almost certain that a MRI is much better than a CAT scan. I hope for your sake that its correct but that still leaves you wondering what is causing your symptoms. I would get a second opinion and not give up until I had answers. I wish you the best of luck with this as I agree with you on the quality of health care lately.

Oh geez I would definetly get another opinion. Sometimes doctors make mistakes because they are human. And if you still having problems then you need to seek another opinion. Or maybe the neurologist will take some tests and help you understand what is going on. I know they can be confusing at times but hang in there with this and dont stop till you are comfortable with the answers and you feel good. Take care and keep us informed.

This is confusing! So now your doctor is trying to tell you that there is probably nothing wrong? Why do they do this to us? When my husband was in the hospital they kept telling us that he would probably have to have surgery. Then one more test later and all of a sudden everything is just fine and we are going home.

I had a pretty bad experience a while ago. They sent my mother straight to the hospital the other day so they could check out her lung. They thought she may have had a blood clot in it and she needed to rush because it was an emergency. I forget what the test is called but she had it done and the doctor at the hospital said the result would be in in about half an hour and they would fax it over to her doctors office.
After all this, they faxed it over. After about an hour we called, "the doctor can't speak, busy. She hasn't had time to look at the test." We called about once every 3 hours afterward. Still the same. No answer by the end of one day and still none halfway through the next. Worried that the raspy cough and trouble breathing was due to another blood clot (she was released from the hospital about a week before for a stay due to a blood clot) we waited. At the end of the 2nd day we finally got an answer. No clot, go into emergency if problem persist.
A few days ago she got a letter in the mail saying she needed to find another doctor. When we called to get a reason why the lady said we called too much. I just can't even say how upset I am over the whole mess.
