I was just going through the discussions and i found that everyone seem to be very good in nature. There are different discussions started on character or asking people's view on some incident. All of these discussions contain positive responses. I was really struck to see this. I started to think, whether people really mean what they speak or just to escape from negative rating we speak positively.
I feel that we speak lot of lies while responding to discussions. At times even i have done that ;P, but most of the time i speak out what i feel (this is true, dont think that even this is a lie ;P).
How about you? Are you the same like me or you really mean whatever you say?

I try my best to be always truthful when responding to a discussion.If there are personal details that I don't want to divulge,I simply avoid the subject or answer the discussion from an imperson and more generalised perspective.I don't feel the need to lie,especially when it's me who is selecting the discussion ,not the other way round.

Hello,mdchennai,when i am replying to the discussions ,i wlll do it based on my personal experience,if not ,i will prefer not to reply to them as I am not good at making up something,i would not try to reply something that try to suit the tastes of the members who start the discussions.

I have been negatively rated for responding against the users response. I felt very bad to see that and from that day i decided that i am not going to respond discussion which is against someones view, unless and until i know that person or if he/she is my friend i will give my view!

Hi hun. Therre is little point in lying on here, and if I disagree with a discussion then I will say so and give my reasons why. I would sooner not bother with any discussion which turns into a slanging match either, as that is usually the result of someone telling lies.

I always tell the truth in discussions. I give my honest opinion and/or answer. If I don't know something or cannot help in any way, I steer clear of the discussion all together. I tend to stay away from religious or political discussions as those always get very heated. I don't see the sense in answering with a lie. People are going to like me or espect me for who I am, not who I pretend to be. Regardless, this is online, so even if someone disagrees with your opinion, it's not like you have them screaming in your face.

LOL. I got negative rated for responding to one such discussion only. Even i stay away from such discussions because such discussion leads to unnecessary hatred and also at time people are not ready to accept others view!

I usually tells the truth in responding here. I dont see the logic why I should lie here, they dont know me i dont know you. So why would i lie? and in the first place, i choose what discussions i respond too, so that means i like to answer it and i want to answer with all honesty.

Yes, you are right. But here what happens is that if we say something against their response then immediately we are negative rated. It has happen to me once. From that day, i dont respond to discussions which will reduce my rating!

I get your post little offensive,but i guess is just my english.
I am that type of person which love honestity...i am sincere in life and here and i don't know why should lie here...We are talking about plants,kids,parents money...not about C.I.A. and top secret...mind you,maybe is here a lot people which lie,but be sure those peolpe lie in real life also...
As about me i am not lying at all...if i don't feel confortable with a topic i will avoid to reply...

I was wondering the same thing. I do speak the truth, I don't care what people think of me here in that who I am is who I am. These people are not my judges, you know what I mean?
But every here as you say seems to be so good, never angry etc, although I have met a some very honest people I believe as well.
The thing is it is human nature to want to be liked and you are not going to be liked if you say negative things, like you have a bad temper or something as mundane as your feet stink.

honestly, i really tell the truth in my responses. but of course, we are in a commercial society here so truth isn't enough, i believe. you have to make the truth more flowery. i mean, in order for users to give you positive ratings, you need to please them, their minds and their eyes with what you are posting. so you need to make an extra effort of making the truth look nicer- but not tha ,uch because it would turn ouit to be a lie.

I always say my own opinion or comments to the discussion I have responded. If I found his/her topic was disgusting, I will write what I have said about that. But to avoid giving a negative comments or advises which could hurt not only the topic starter but also my rating, I just choose the right topic that will solicit a good and positive comment from me. But sometimes I could not deny myself in still giving or commenting negatively on some discussion.

When i make a post or when i respond to any discussion here in mylot, i always say the truth coz i dont see anything wrong on it. the more honest we are the more we are able to share. this is a community where people interacts through discussions, so why lie. Even if i answered discussions with the same question, you can see that what im writing is true because of its consistency.

yes because mylot is mainly used to share some good thoughts,latest technologies...and also some personaal intrests....so everbody is sharing the positive and truth thoughts......

I have a belief that if you lie to others, others will lie to you, so I don't do it. However, I do choose my words carefully. For instance if a friend asks if I like her new hairdo and I don't, I will try not to hurt her feelings but will not lie. There is always something positive to say in most cases. Tact and diplomacy is the way for me.

I always speak the truth and if i feel that the truth can really hurt that person, or if i feel i can not be nice in a response i much rather leave the discussion without commenting =)

Most of the time, I respond based on what I think at that point of time.
If the topic requires some personal experience as quote to bring my point across, I will use a personal story to illustrate.
If the topic is a hypothetical one, I will respond likewise. If it is too personal, I might just miss the discussion a miss or I will just try to respond with a funny answer.
It all depends on the topic. I take it as a discussion and each of us is entitled to our own opinions, be it true or otherwise.
