well.. you definitely should be worried about it.. its the kind of fat that accumulates and blocks your arteries and veins, and cause stroke or heart attacks.

repzkoopz..im sorry i never voiced if i was worried about it or not, but i also have to say..as i myself , im not a doctor and the way they have changed food and placing all kinds of chemicals and additives in them pumping meats and chickens full if things to make them fatter im not so sure that would be my biggest worry..you see trans fat was around before the doctors had a name for it..it was around when KFC was first known as Kentucky Fried Chicken..it was there when Mcdonald's and Burger King first arose ..was there when Jack In The Box decided to come and entertain us..and foods were enjoyable and there was not talk of clogged arteries..ever notice how people ate and there was no talk of trans fatty acids or trans fat? i believe its not the food but the intake of them..everything in moderation is key! thanks for the response.

oh, no worries about it, my friend. no need to be sorry. thats understandable. in fact, we had almost the same reaction to it. i just became aware of it when i was watching tv, and coincidentally, it was the topic. c",)

i learned that these trans fat from hydrogenated oils are not suitable to our body .i consider all the hydrogenated oils are not at all healthy and in restaurants they use oils for cooking they never change .they cook on the same oil severaly times which is extremely cancerrous.i have read that trans fat from animals like in that of milk is good for us .but due to commercialisaton and since this hydrogenated oils has got more shell life .bakers and fast food producer s use it. ithink it is better to avoid this and junk foods created by these restuarens and bakers so that your health wins over your taste.ie your budhi shoul win over your senses.

manoj_s..thanks for your response..but to say again as i have said previously..restaurants have been doing this for years, and only now is this beginning to be something looked at..i have worked at restaurants in the past and have the knowledge of the oil being reused to a point (usually until the oil is either no longer clear..ir by records kept by the establishment its time to change the oil)..they DO change the oil..just not as often as one would like..( i would prefer fresh oil each time) but that has to do with economics as well..again thanks for the response!

When I was young, margarine came into play. And most people started using margerine which had trans fat instead of butter. My mother did. I did not eat much chips or snacks, so it is mainly the margerine that did it. You look around many women esp. who are in their fifties to mid sixties, and you can see sloppy tummies, big arms, etc. That is what trans fat did. Those who do not have this sloppiness, used regular vegetable or olive oil, and butter. It is almost impossible to reverse the effects. Trans fat is more dangerous than regular fat. I have a roll beneath my waist that I have tried to get rid of and it is almost impossible Exercise does not help, weight loss does not help, surgery might help, but I do not want that. And this is not because of excess weight I gained since marriage, this is what trans fat did to me.
