Sibling Rivalry

ok so the other week we got a puppy and at first my son was rather rambunctious with her, though after just a few days he warmed up to her and all seemed well. now when watching him i keep finding him lashing out at our cats which he never used to do! yesterday i found him trying to beat the pup which also was a big no no! he loves our new pup and wants her around all the time however he is also very jealous of the attention she gets and thus is acting out! my son is an only child, so i assume other parents with more children have gone through this and can help me find ways to mellow his behaviour out some. any suggestions as to what i can do?
