Based on what I read about these two programming languages for the web, XHTML is a reformulation of HTML into XML. This means that XHTML is now the new version of HTML (last version was HTML 4.0). Aside from this information, the difference between the two can be summarized as in the following:
- XHTML gives much emphasis on the feature about accessibility, which means that XHTML written web pages can now be easily accessed with mobile devices like PDA's and WAP enabled mobile phones.
- With XHTML, tags can be written in all lowercase letters.
- XHTML tags always have a closing tag as partner with the opening tag for codes readability unlike with HTML which allows opening tags having no closing tags.
So, if you are planning to study on XHTML you better start now because it's fun and worthy...

Mwuah, XHTML is really old already. There are plans of changing it again, whether to go for a new XHTML or HTML 5 though is mainly being discussed a lot still.
