Yes, my son is two and sometimes he does that, but its usually because the day before he didn't take a nap and he went to bed around 7pm, he'll wake up around 5am and then go back to sleep around 8am.
I just go right back to sleep with him.

As most of you know---I have a sone who is almost 5....his siblings are much older....with this one, I have not had as much of a financial burden...I am not required to work long hours anymore, like I did when the other 3 were ittle and at home; because of this I have been very relaxed about some things with him...sleeping habits is one of those areas.....he frequently keeps unusual hours....it did not bother me.
A month or so aga, we began enforcing some restrictions on his bedtime and rising times...in anticipation of him beginning schoool in the fall. He is doing well with it!

I have never encountered this with any of my children but would think this has something to do with a growth spurt that he may be on , messing up his normal schedule . I would prefer this though then to my youngest who you never know when she is going to wake up and you never know when you are going to get her to bed at night as she will not let anyone put her on a schedule of any kind making it harder for all of us in the household as she may end up being up til all hours of the night meaning I have to try and get a few hours shut eye the next day , requiring someone else to watch her other sister while I am trying to lay down .

My son has such a wide variety of times he gets up. He goes to bed between 10-11 pm every night. Some days he gets back up at 6-7 am! He has a morning nap if he gets up that early. Other days he sleeps until 11 am, and just has his afternoon nap. He's really odd like that. Some days he spends only 10 hours total in bed. Other days he spends closer to 14. It really varies by day.
I don't ever wake him up just to wake him up. I figure he will let me know when he is ready to get up. We do impose the bedtime routine, though. It's just later than most. That's because my husband works such odd hours sometimes, though. If we set it then, my husband will most likely be home for it. And that's their favorite part of the day together.

My daughter does this every once and awhile to0 it's not cool at all. She usually gets up at 7:30 or 8 depending on how much sleep she got but sometimes she wants to get up at 6AM or even 4AM. You can tell she still tired because she's rubbing her eyes but she wants to giggle and bounce around in the crib too.

Yip I know what this is like...There is nothing you can do about it... I have been there with my son who is now 5 years old. But with my son he does it only on a saturday or a sunday and then does not go back to sleep until he is absolutely falling over his own feet. Good luck.

Oh yes, I have been there. Most of the time when they did it, I would be wide awake by that point and couldn't get back to sleep again. Then by the afternoon, all I want to do is go to back to bed. I am glad because all of my kids don't do it anymore. I hope your son will stop doing it to you soon.

Welcome to motherhood!lol My children do this to me quite often. It drives me absolutely crazy, but I still love them. I just lay down and take a nap when they do.
