For some reason my system suddenly decided to crash on me and as it restarted a partition was totally lost. All data on it simply gone, the weird thing is I didn't run anything which could have caused it, luckily no real data was lost as this was simply my windows partition but it is annoying having to reinstall it again along with other stuff.
Ever had your computer simply crashing on you as well? Tell us your disastrous stories ;).

How... fascinating. A partition totally disappeared? I have not heard of such interesting happenings before. Might it not just be hidden? Beats me really. :P

Looks like you are more versed in such things than me. Alright, I better keep quiet. You have fun repartitioning it. :P

"Hidden" is one way you could possibly describe it, partition size data and such is stored on the hdd along. If that data gets corrupted a partition gets seen as unpartitioned space or an empty partition.

aww a work of a virus maybe? as a computer technician, most of the customers pcs crash are caused by mainly virus, power interruptions, spikes, and for novice end users accidently deleting system files. hmm.. never had a big problem with my pc so far even if its a bit outdated, haha!

I think my hhdd is simply degrading, being in use for over 5 years already 24 hours a day, 365 days a year this isn't the first time of weird things going on with it. What is annoying though is that it was an unexpected crash, although I didn't lose any real data over it I will end up having to load in files for data hosting and such again. And I lost my uptime :(, it was going so nicely on 5 weeks :P.

I cannot imagine the complete loss of a partition. I suspect that your system is simply not detecting it, because this seems a very unlikely occurrence.
If the partition had truly disappeared then it would be necessary to repartition the drive before reinstalling Windows.
