I have to say that it is so hard for me to fall asleep in other place than my bed. When traveling I can sleep only if I can have at least comfortable place. During my last flight to Europe I was able to sleep because airplane was half empty and most people get a lot of room. When I am seating in train or car I am not able to sleep, but I can see people falling asleep in seconds. I could see many people taking naps in parks or airport. Can you fall asleep easy and everywhere?

I wouldn't say that I can actually "sleep" anywhere, but I can sure DOZE OFF anywhere, and I HAVE! I've caught a quick "nap" in a noisy club, in a fast food restaurant, and when I've had past jobs, I'd always doze during my shift. My body naturally WANTS 2 sleep in the middle of the day, no matter what! So, while it may not be the most COMFORTABLE "sleep", my body, when exhausted enough, CAN, and WILL, take a "nap", any and EVERYWHERE!

Oh, I have a hard enough time falling asleep in my bed. Especially with a neighbor upstairs who stays up late stomping around his place and opening drawers and slamming them shut. Then another neighbor who takes his stupid mutt out at frickin' 4 in the morning... Stomping up and down the stairs that run against my bedroom wall. ARGH! Anyway, I see people falling asleep on the bus all the time and I wonder how they do it. On my way home on Friday, there was a guy sitting across from me and his head was all over the place, yet he slept through the entire thing with mouth open and drooling. LOL

I think the reason people fall asleep so easily and regularly on the bus is because the motion lulls them into a relaxed state. If you haven't slept well the previous night, its a good chance to make up for it on the bus lol! I regularly fall asleep on buses, and cars. I don't sleep well at night. I have woken up with my head on a man's shoulders! He was quite nice actually...

I don't take naps in park. It's a strange thing that i would do in my entire life. I experience a long trip which also take days. It's not hard for me to sleep while on trip especially when I know I really need to. Perhaps, I only sleep in ship or plane travel. Can't get my sleep on roadtrip because it's risky for my things. I feel unsecured. Others might run my things away without me knowing...

I am not good at sleeping in strange places .. due to my fibro I need a very soft place to lay, proper support for my back and shoulders .. and a decent support pillow ... at home I have an electric adjustable bed and a selection of pillows of varying thicknesses so I can get comfy .. for some reason I need a different height pillow depending on which side I lay .. have to flippin' rearrange my pillows every time I turn over hehehe ... If I do fall asleep in strange place I wake up so grumpy and stiff and with so much pain it takes me ages to get going again .. and I am such a light sleeper I doubt I;d even fall asleep however tired ..

It is not possible for me to sleep in a bus or car, untill and unless I am extrmely tired. In a car or bus or even while travelling in a train....we get lot of jerks and get to hear not of noise....so I find it very difficult to have a nice sleep....as I usually get at my bed. I agree with you that some people fall asleep in seconds...in public placed.... and like you I also wonder...how do they do so?

I endorse your views, nothing is better than our own bed and our own pillow.

I could sleep on the train or plane, only if I'm way too tired and feel comfortable with it. So far, my bed is the only place I can sleep well on. I've also slept in a bed and breakfast place, friends' houses, the car and on the sand by the beach in summer. But nothing feels like sleeping on my own bed :)

I can't sleep very well in public places. On a recent flight I was able to sleep some only because it was such a long long flight and I was so tired. But I didn't sleep well or long. I like to sleep on my stomach, try doing that while sitting in a plane, car, etc. doesn't work very well at all.

I'm quite different from my husband in sleeping habit. He could fall asleep pretty easy and fast while riding on public transport, and always leaves me alone feeling quite monotonous all the time Such situation would worse if travelling by airplane. Even though I would fall in to sleep it's just for a short while only... Here in my place many are seen sleeping on the long bench at the pavilions or kiosk here and there in the public gardens or recreation parks. Caps as well as newspaper placed on their faces to block off the glaring sunlight. This would be seen at bus stop, railway station too

I am one of those fortunate people who can fall asleep easily. If, for example, I am on a bus, I reach a point where I accept that the driver is competent and safe, and *POW* I fall asleep. It annoyed the heck out of my fellow travelers once when we took a bus from Oklahoma City to Laredo, Texas. By the time we got there I was awake an alert, and they were all grumpy from the lack of sleep.
