What's your favorite videogame of all time and why?

Most of us if not all grew up playing video games. from Pong to the most sophisticated game today in the ps3, Wii or xbox360 it seems that videogames are one of the best ways to kill boredom if not the best way. i could list a lot of games that i like but I guess super mario 3 tops em all. The simplicity and excitement of the game took it from me. i play a lot of ps2 and ps3 but not em is a match for mario hehehe. so what's your favourite videogame and why?

I think the best games i have played in my life are the metal gear solid series, these games are very interesting because of the gameplay, you have to sneak to get to your objectives, its not like other games where you kill everything that gets in your way, and besides the plotline is always awesome, its always like a movie with lots of plotwists, you never know who will double-cross who, and the graphics and music are also fantastic, they are my favourite games so far, i look forward to metal gear solid 4 in the ps3 : )
