Plymouth university in England - a great place

My son is at Plymouth university in England and I would recommend it to any parent or student wondering which university to attend. He started last September and we were a bit worried as he did not get into the halls of residence. No problem at all. If anything I think he has done better out of this.
The university campus is situated near the town centre and all facilities or jobs (if needed). It is a compact city so that all of the halls of residence and most rented houses are within easy walking distance of all facilities. His is only a few minutes walk from everything including the railway station for visits home.
He is in a house with mostly 1st year students like himself. They get along really well together - some sharing shopping and cooking to save costs. He has varied his eating tastes and even took his dirty clothes back with him to wash them himself!!!He is well looked after at the university and the course seems to suit him. He is doing exams now so we will see how well he got on.

That sounds great and a big worry from your mind. I attended Blackburn college in the north of England, and attended Bolton University which is only half an hour away on the train. I didn't have to live away from home, however a few years ago while doing an Open University course I spent a week at York University and that was fantastic.

What a small world. I had a great time there but I guess I don't need to say what fun summer school can be. I was there summer of '85 doing a foundation course in technology, I managed to get a bursary to do it through a scheme called women in technology, so I was lucky it didn't cost me anything.

Many years ago, when i first started a degree i found myself taking a B.A honours degree in history and sociology in Plymouth but i went to the college in Derifford just north of Plymouth, I agree with everything you say about the city, its a great place and i remember my time there with a great deal of affection

What a small world it turns out to be sometimes. Fancy you two being at the same University at the same time. I am glad you both enjoyed it.
