How brave are you in amusement parks?

I'm not especially brave on roller coasters and such. I still haven't done a looping one and at this point I may never go on a coaster that goes upside down. It might be in part because of an incident when I was 7 or 8 and I was at the top of a huge coaster at Dorney Park called Hercules and I slipped out of my seatbelt. I heard that it is no longer there, which certainly doesn't upset me. I'll go on the three Disney mountains - Thunder, Space & Splash, but that's about as brave as I get on land. I like water slides better but I still avoid the fastest speed slides when I get to go to water parks.

Okay, I seriously must be the biggest wuss of them all! I really wish I could get over it but I can't. I'm so bad with roller coasters and rides I can't even get myself to go on the log ride. It's that feeling you get when you drop that drives me insane! I can't take it. It sucks whenever I go to amusement parks with friends because I'm always left behind whenever they want to go on the "bigger" rides. Whenever I go to Disneyland I tell them to leave me behind so they can go on splash mountain while I sit and watch kids 10years younger then me wait in line. I love fast rides, like Space Mountain. It's those other ones were you can pay me a million dollars and I still wont get on. You'll never find me at Six Flags thats for sure! :)

The dropping feeling isn't too bad as long as it doesn't go on for too long, but they rarely do. I think that I'd go on any (safe) ride for a million dollars but I know that I'd have second thoughts as I moved through the line.

See your right...some time more then others I get the courage to maybe try out a ride...but after waiting in a line for sooo long you overthink yourself and flake out. That happens to me all the time. I'll be like " Fine, I'll do it" and then almost an hour passes by and my courage has demolished and I flake out. lol.

You're not a wuss! You simply have a comfort zone, and what you need to do is NOT to force yourself to go on these rides but, instead, become secure with your comfort zone. Otherwords, it if doesn't feel good to you, don't do it (at least, in terms of recreation as opposed to something such as getting rabies shots when needed). No apologies necessary! Tell your friends to have fun, and be at peace with sitting on a bench watching everybody else. As for myself, you couldn't pay me enough to get me on most of those so-called thrill-rides, and I wonder what the inventor was thinking when he even created some of them (I'm thinking especially of bungee-jumping). If they really thrill you (as in truly enjoying them and not simply caving in to peer pressure or what you "should" be doing), by all means, go on them again and again and again and again... My first cousin's son, Mike, loves roller-coasters and the wilder the better. He'll be 30 in December, and, as far as I know, he still loves them. He'll probably be riding them when he's 90 if he's able. His mom wants absolutely nothing to do with them. I remember a few years ago, we were all at a family gathering, and they were talking about a trip out to one of their favorite places (Las Vegas). Mike was describing this absolutely-horrible roller-coaster and all of the nasty things it could do to the human body. "Mom," he said teasingly, "you really need to ride that roller-coaster!" "I don't think so..." "Mom, I'm gonna to put you on that roller-coaster, and you're gonna ride it!" "Oh no you're not!" Of course, he wouldn't have done that to her, but he was just giving her a hard time. There's this couple in our church, and one of their grandsons is really big on roller-coasters. He couldn't wait to become tall enough to go on one without an adult along because he couldn't find an adult in his family to go along. Once he was tall enough to go on one without an adult, he definitely wasn't disappointed--unless, perhaps, disappointed that it wasn't wild enough. Point me to the tamer rides, an entertainment area, the concession stand, a park restaurant, a gift shop, or just a comfortable bench, and I'd be glad to let my friends go on any darn rides they please just so long as they don't drag me along and put me on them. If they do, I (or my survivors) will sue and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. BE WARNED!!!

I love amusement parks. My favorite one would have to be Cedar Point. I am just glad that I don't live to far away from this park. It has some of the greatest rollercoasters. I have not been on a rollercoaster that I have not liked yet. As for what happened to you, I can definently understand why you would not be comfortable riding them.

I am a chicken! The only things that I will get on are the tings that my kids really want to do but can't by themselves.

I wish I was brave enough to bungee jump. Everyone who has done it loved it so much. But not me - I'm too big a coward when it comes to heights.

I am not brave at all. I do not like roller coasters or any rides where I feel like I am not in control.

Oh you are very brave. The bravest thing I've ever done was ride on the Tower of Terror at Disney World. The only reason why I went on that was someone told me that all you do was sit in a seat and ride up and down -- baloney!! LOL I was never so scared in all my life. That ride has no seat belts and at different points there is zero gravity, which means you are lifted out of your seat.

I love roller coasters and I've tried most of them at the amusement parks I've been to. I do make sure the seatbelts work before I get on though. I love waper parks too. Im not scared of the heights and speed so I can try almost all of the rides.

I'm with you on the upside down stuff. I'll ride anything as long as it stays right side up. I love roller coasters but I don't do upside down.

Well i love the rides!!!! I haven't been on one for 4yrs, i went to the royal show this year with my mum and my daughter who is 5. Anyway she was very upset and started to cry when i went on a ride. She hung on to Nanna in tears poor thing as i was lifted way up high and when i got off the ride she wouldn't talk to me or walk next to me for 5 minutes.... lol.
