We still watch movies in the theater but it's very rarely. I say we go to the movie houses like three times a year. We only go if there are big movies coming out like for this year, Spiderman 3, Harry Potter and Pirates of Carribean. The main reason is as you know is money. It's quite expensive now going to movies. It's ok if you are only one and going out with friends. It is still economical to do. But if you are a family, it is better just to rent the movie. It's main dis-advantage is you have too wait for at least 3 months before it go out the video store. There are pirated movies but the quality is not good. It's better to wait.

We usually wait. Not just because of the expense, but because of having 4 kids all aged 7 and under, and no babysitter! My husband was going to take the oldest two boys to Spiderman 3 because they loved the first two, however they had misbehaved alot and lost the priveledge to go for now. Now that my husband is leaving for Saudi we probably wont be able to go at all since I can't take the 2 year old and the infant to the theatre, although I have heard some big cities have mommy movies where they play all the new releases and you can take your baby without fear of disturbing others. I wish they had that here!

I think theatre is best place to watch any kind of movie, bacause we get totally involved in its world, true entertainment, away from office calls and doorbells. Thats how we should spend three hours for full enjoment! I prefer to watch movies in theatres unless my monthly budget stops me doing this! he he!

We usually will wait until the movie is out on video. There is a dollar movie theater about an hour away from our house. Once in a while I will pack the kids in the van and we will take a road trip. We stop for a quick lunch, grab some munchies and head to the dollar movie. It is fun and isn't too expensive.

I hope we have that too. A dollar movie theater, how's the quality of the movie on those theater? I hope it's good because it's the main advantage of the movie house from watching at home.

The quality of the film is great. It is in an older theater so we don't have the seats that rock or anything like that, but for $1 who can complain?!

For the longest time my area didn't have a theater you would ahve to drive about an hour or more to the closest one so I just rented movies and didn't watch very many.
Now we have a theater about 20 minutes from where I live. There are only certain movies that I would NEED to see on the big screen. Such as the movie "300" I saw that in the theater with my boyfriend and his 2 teenage daughters and I must say that it was best to see it on the big screen. There are just some movies that you have to see on the big screen to get the full effect of them.

I agree with you, that's why we also choose what we watch on the big screen.

If there is one thing I really miss doing the most, it is watching movies in the theater. When I was in college, I have this MTRCB (Movie and Television Regulatory Board) ID which I use to enter a movie house without a fee. I can use it many times in a day as long as I can. The thing is, I must observe the cinema if it is following the rules and regulations given by the board like if it is not allowing minors in R18 films. If I see somthing wrong, I must report it to the board at once. For that, I get to watch any movie I want.. Since I moved out, and lived in avery remote place (hehe!), I hardly watch a movie. I think its been two years since I watched. I dont even remember what's the last movie that I have seen. But maybe it's high time for me to go watch spiderman 3.. maybe tomorrow..

Yes, money is something that we really have to consider. This year, i have only watched one movie and that's it. I'd rather rent movies and watch them at home. I am not also a movie fanatic so i don't watch movies especially in theaters unless someone will gonna pay for my ticket.lol

Yes, definitely ! When ever I am taking weekly Off from my Farm work we go to near by Mall, which is about some 60 kms away from my place, for shopping also to have some fun!
Though I take weekly Off, I attend my morning routines and it is never before 10.30 or 11.00 am we start from our place to the Mall. By the time we reach the Mall, its already our Lunch time, and we normally have a lunch and after that , I personally need to relax after the lunch. Since my wife is interested in watching movies in theatres and of course my son also, I take this opportunity to relax and we go for the Movies. There are three Malls and couple of them they are having 7-8 multiplexes in them and another one is having two of them thus we have a choice of about 15 theatres within a closed vicinity. Then depending upon the time what we are having at our disposal and the type of movie or cinema being shown we select one movie and enjoy it!
Now a days in India also we don't have the lengthy type movies any more! We are having short and sweet movies which take maximum 2 to 2 1/2 hours and this time is quite sufficient for me to relax after the Lunch!
I feel I am paying just a small amount of Rs.150.00 per head to get relaxed on a cosy chair in a AC theatre, which is no less luxury in the tropical climate of India where we have lot of scotching heat!
With this arrangement we all are happy and we get an opportunity to see a movie in a good theatre with really good projection and Dolby sound system.
I do have lot of CDs and DVDs of movies which I watch on my 29" TV with 5.1 Home theatre, but watching movie in theatre is a great experience and Home videos can never be substitutes for them! For that matter You my watch Titanic Movie on your Home theatre for n number of times , but I am sure you won't have the feeling or thrill, what you experience, when the same thing is watched on the big screen with Dolby sound system in a Movie hall!
In conclusion, I though go to movie theatre to relax myself ,I basically love to watch movies in theatres and I make it a point whenever I go on vacation to go to the good Local Cinema Halls to enjoy a movie! Thats a great experience, which I love to have ! Thanks for the discussion !

That's very lengthy discussion. I agree with you if you leave outside the city and visit the city weekly. Movie theater is a great entertainment. I lived in the city now and we have about 8 movie houses and so I maybe get used to it. Us here we pay about 70 pesos per head about $1.50 which is cheap compared to US $4.00 per head. But that's a lot already here.

Hello, robert, although i do not always go to the theater to watch movies,i still like to go there occasionally for some movies. I like to go to watch action movies as the sound system is much better in the theater than the little speaker at home, i can enjoy in the movie more at the theatre, the last movie i watched in the theater was Rocky VI.

It is very popular now to have a home theater sets at home. It's a little bit expensive but it's worth and investment if you are a movie buff. I have not watched Rocky VI yet.

i rarely do anymore,i wait for cable or dvd.
it's not just the money issue, though that's a big part-it's kids screaming and acting up and ruining the movie, long lines/disgusting bathrooms.
i could stay home and watch it in peace,
and be comfortable.

We rarely go to the movies anymore because of how expensive it is and how rude other people are. I don't want to spend over thirty dollars at a movie theatre only to have chair kicked or rude people talking over the dialogue. We bought a big screen television a few years ago and it has saved us money on theatre tickets over the long run as we watch everything on DVD now.

I see that people in China used the internet to download movies. I have a slow connection and it will be several days before I could finish to download one movie. Thats good for you don't even have to go to the video store.

Yes, I do watch movies in theater. It's really good to watch movies at the cinema. But, as you said, only big movies (like Spiderman 3). Those are the best.
I usually go once every three months. Or something like that... But not only three times a year. I know it's more. This year I went once already. And I'm going again to watch Spiderman.

Yes, what I like in the theater is the big screen and the THX sounds. The first time I heard it WOW! it's like you are in the movie itself. I have not watch Spiderman 3 yet. We will do it this week. The theater are still pack with people.

I enjoy going to the cinema to see movies but it is very expensive :( I went to see spiderman 3 yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. I see going to the cinema as a bonding experience for friends aswell as just an entertainment source. Pirated movies aren't good because they are often done by amateurs and the quality is horrible.

I haven't been to the theaters to see a movie since June 2004. It is just too expensive, especially since we either have to hire a babysitter for our kids (which would cost more then the movies) or take them with which would cost a fortune.
We wait until they come out on Netflix and then order them and watch them at our leisure.

HI. I always want to see a good movie. Watching movie in the theater is so much better unless you have latest 10000$ equipment in you home. I agree that going to movies for family is expensive. When in it a good movie that im interested in I would always like to see it in the theater.

No , not now, infact not even before.
i dont even remember when i last when to the theatre to watch any movie. i m married for one and a half year and we both never went to the theatre. everybody in our relation says that in the starting only it was time to go and enjoy , watch movies, and water sports and all such stuff, but in the case of watching movies we both are same. we dont enjoy watching them.its too boring for me to sit at a place for more than 2 hours. and now watching movies is not at all economical. here in mall it ccosts too much. the only ticket of we 2 can serve a dinner for one day with tip of the waiter also.
so better stay at home and enjoy your own home theatre.

I don't really go out to see movies in the theaters, because it doesn't really interest me, although when my family goes, I will too, as long as it's something interesting to watch, like Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events or Superman Returns. Most of the movies that come out these days irritate me to no end.
