For many years I worked for a company that was never open on Sunday. They one day they changed because everyone else was. It was never quite the same working for them. It put a new face on company moral and it was not good. For staff parties of get togethers, there was always Saturday night when you knew nobody had to work. Now there is always somebody who has to work. I don't think they should ever have changed it. Not just for that reason I mentioned, but also because it had an effect on family values. Sunday was a day you could always expect every one to be at home. Not anymore. It appears that making money is more important than staff moral or the family.

I too worked for a company that was closed on sunday until one day they decided to open on sunday. Like you, I never felt the same respect for the owners. The funny thing is that it did not really help the sales becuase the peole just would normally shop on saturday night just started shopping on sunday. So the weekly sales was the same. Sad really

No I really don't think we need to shop Sunday. There's no respect left as it is and I think Sunday needs to be designated for the lords day. I also think the staff need the day off to worship and also spend time with the family. We all know Sunday is coming and there's no need to not have enough supplies to carry us from Saturday to Monday. This is my honest opinion. Take Care

Sunday is the only day when I do gorcery shopping. This is also me and my family considers as a family day. But since I started working my days off would switch to different days. So whenever it's my day off that's the day we consider a family day now. I don't have a problem with it, although it would really be better if my days off falls on weekends.

yea I think it is a great idea, because of all the people that work monday to saturday and dont have time to get what they need trough the week or do what thay have to do, It gives them the chance to go shopping and get done what they need to..

I don't know why but opening shops/offices on Sundays is not such a great idea except maybe pharmacies. I do all my shopping of Friday evenings and keep my Sunday as the day of rest in fact we try not to even step out of the house on Sunday. I feel if the shops/offices are closed on Sundays people will shop on Saturdays or Fridays and clients will get all their required work done on the 6 days of the week. Keeping the shops/offices open on Sundays is not going to increase sales but it sure will decrease an employee's output. Humans can change/adapt as the situation is presented and if offices are open on Sundays clients will drop in on Sundays but if the office is closed on Sundays then the clients will make it a point to get their work done before Saturday evening as they know Sunday will be the day off.

I agree with few aspects of it, in particular food. As much as I hate grocery shopping, especially in Walmart, I think that's fine because it's an essential. But the rest I disagree, and employees missing out on church and/or family is not the only reason why. Sunday shopping attracts traffic. I happen to live near Brandon, where the mall, clothing stores, and others are open on Sundays. Traffic on SR 60 is a pain, and I have to brave it to get to church on time. I wish I would move to a place where blue laws on shopping exist. Pretty much the only one in the US I can think of is Bergen County in New Jersey. Sure, roads like the Turnpike, Parkway, and (Irksome) Route 17 are butt-pains, but Sundays are the most tolerable days of the week. Because a majority of stores there stay shut those days, I can actually get to church on time. So, while I dread its effects, Sunday shopping can be a boon, but only to food and a few essentials.

I find it very good to have the malls, parks and department stores open during Sundays. Though Sunday is a day of rest but it is a day also wherein one should have fun and that includes shopping. My country is the only Christian nation in Asia yet we don't mind or find it bad to have our store open on Sunday. In fact, it is one of our peak days here because after going to Church, families would want to eat, do some shopping, have some outings and have fun. Though it is a day of rest it is also a day to relax. As to the people manning the stores, they are also fine with it because they get days off too any day of the week.
