I like to add fresh vegetables to sandwiches. It's a good way to get in something healthy, and it also adds crunch and keeps the sandwich more moist (so less mayo, etc. is needed). I have been using vinegar and oil instead of mayo lately and it tastes really good with veggies. A little green pepper, some vidalia onion, paper thin slices of tomato and cucumber, fresh spinach leaves or romaine lettuce. Whatever I have handy or whatever is in my garden at the time.

Have you tried cukes and lettuce together. It sounds like it would be a real good combo.

I know, I was making myself hungry too, LOL.
Cucumbers are great as an extra on sandwiches. I started out trying it once because I didn't have any lettuce. I just sliced them really thin and layered them on in place of the lettuce. I eat cucumber sandwiches sometimes too. Spread some cream cheese on some rye or pumpernickel add slices of cucumber, some thin onion and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Serve open faced. Makes a nice cool, light lunch on a hot day.

I love putting stuff on my sandwiches. My favorite sandwich is white bread, cream cheese, ham, mushrooms, cucumbers, avocado and sprouts. I also like to put pickles and stuff on my regular sandwiches too. The more stuff you can pile on the better it tastes to me. Like at Subway, I will pile on all the veggies. Lot of them.
As far as unusual sandwiches, I think it's normal but my hubby says it's unusual, I love chicken salad with celery, mandarin oranges, seedless grapes, and miracle whip. I also like my tuna with boiled eggs, celery, apples, pickle relish and shredded cheese. I grew up eating it that way and so it seems normal to me. My hubby says that tuna should just be tuna, eggs, celerey and mayo. I think he is boring when it comes to sandwiches. I think they should be a flavor experience.

You have to try it with apples and celery. It is sooooo good. I love sandwiches, especially in the summer when it gets too hot to cook.

I don't think I have anything all that unusual on my sandwiches..I just love a lot of lettuce and instead of mayo, I use sandwich spread..I also add chips to it sometimes for the extra crunch

I like a good bread when making sandwiches, such as 9 grains.
My favourite would be to pile it up with cold, cooked chicken, avocado, tomata & cheese, with maybe a little mayonaise.
Yum!

most of the time just straight up-i haven't bought lettuce in awhile because of the price of it lately.
but if i have it,i'll put lettuce and tomato on,and sometimes bean sprouts also depending on the type of
sandwich.

I really am not a "sandwich person"....but when I do eat a sandwich I like fresh avacodo on them instead of tomatoes....
While I do occassionally make sandwiches for my son, my Mom, and my husband for lunch...I either do not eat...or eat a salad....it is my preference.

Yep Lettuce, tomatoes and cheese, either with miracle whip or honey mustard depending on type of lunch cuts. Every once in awhile, I enjoy potato chips on a ham sandwich, but I am an adult now, and that pleasure is only indulged in private :))

Angel,I thought i was the only one that ate potato chips on my sandwich, lol! I still do that occasionally but i'm usually sneaky about it.Another thing we have in common is the fact that we both use miracle whip.mayo isn't allowed in the house and never has been, lol.

Yes I...was.
Now I am on a diet, but when I used
to pile my sandwiches with stuff, you
could really find everything inside 'hem.
Once I tried -on advice of a friend of mine-
to put also a slice of red orange, with
the classic lettuce leaf... the result:
good, with chicken salad and red onion rings.
I used also to put prickled aubergines
with catchup, mayonese and mustard
(with hamburger and cheese).
My father in law says I'm omnivorous.
I say that I was.

It depends on the sandwhich actually. I eat plain bologna sandwhich everyday. If I happen to get a ham and cheese sub from subaway I usually will have lettuce and tomato put on it. If I am eating a cheeseburger at home I will eat it plain but at a restaruant I will have it with ketchup, mustard, and onion.

I will put on as much as I have on hand. I love lettuce, tomatoes, onion, etc. When I go to Subway I load it all on...all the veggies. and I love banana peppers on my sammies....they arent spicy, they are more tangy :D
