First of all, I would like to know if there are any Dutch people here.
To anyone else: have you visited Holland yet? If so, what do you think about it, where did you go and what do you remember of it? Most of you must know Amsterdam, but have you actually been there?
If you haven't visited Holland - you should!

I am not Dutch either but have been to the Netherlands. My favorite memory is visiting their fantastic bakeries every day to pick up another wonderful dessert! I flew into Amsterdam and took a small plane to Eindhoven and spend alot of time around Mastric (sp?) It was a wonderful experience that I will never forget!

Yeah, Limburg has good cakes and pastry. I have family in Heerlen, so I come there every now and then. I guess you meant Maastricht, if you went there, you must have been in Heerlen too.

There used to be a lot of windmills in Holland. Fires, storms and acts of war destroyed a lot of them, but windmills are still a symbol of Holland's struggle against the water.

Hey, I also Live in Holland!
I live In the city Utrecht.
For those who don't know Utrecht I will tell something about it.
Utrecht is a city that looks a bit like Amsterdam but the city is smaller.
We also have coffeeshops in Utrecht but we don't have a lot tourism here.
A special thing from Utrecht is the Dome tower in Utrecht.
It's the largest church in Holland and it's 112 meters high!
Redrum666, where do you live in Holland?

Hey don, nice to see you here on MyLot.
I live in Alphen, this is a place between Leiden and Woerden. English people probably don't know where this is.

I've never been to the Netherlands but would love to go there someday. It's one of the loveliest countries in Europe and I love Tulips!

I went to Amsterdam in the end of April last year, and manage to join the queen's day street party. I saw people selling things on the street, people are cheering, drinking and having fun all over the place :-)
Also, I like the Keukenhof park and I never see so many types of tulips flower in my life, I remember the huge tulip field behind the windmill and river, it was awesome!

I visited the Netherlands in October of 2005 with my wife and 1 year old son. My wife's family is from Zuidwolde, so we spent a lot of time there. We also stayed with family in Rotterdam and Zwolle. Then we spent a weekend on our own in Amsterdam.
I absolutely love the country! The scenery, the people, the cheese and breads! I even developed an appreciation for yogurt (which seems to be about all everyone serves for dessert there). We saw windmills at the Kinderdijk; we toured the Royal Delft factory in Delft, checked out the canals in Geethorn; toured the cathedrals in Zwolle and the National Heritage Museum in Arnhem.
I could easily enjoy living there if I found a job (that didn't require too much knowledge of Dutch :D ) and could afford a place to live.
