What would you do if you won a big money in the lottery?

Imagine that you were just walking around the mall when you suddenly pass by a lottery booth. All you had was enough money for a ride home and maybe a few bucks for a drink. With no idea, you fall inline and just like other many people, waited your turn to choose your lucky numbers. You just picked your numbers randomly. No patterns. You didn't even choose the number of your birthdate. Just NUMBERS!
And you won! You won let's say about 40 million dollars.. what would you do with that money??? Lucky huh? You started with nothing and now your having a new start with something.

I would definatly buy my mom and dad a house, my husband parent's a house, us a house on the lake, in the moutins and in the country. I would invest in real estate so I continue to grow my income and the rest would go in the bank and I would set myself on a limit on how much to spend. I would still like to work from home but let my husband retire so he can be home with me and travel around the world. I would want to leave like 20 million to live off in there for after retirement.

Wow. So you will invest it in the real estate. Hmmm, wouldn't you want to share a few on charity groups? Or for the orphanage?

it sounds to be so easy to live life when we have so much money. this is true. life will be much easier to handle if we have sufficient funds to cover for all of our expenses incurred from time to time. if we lead a normal life, the interest earnings of $20 million each year, can cover for the expenses plus some to spare for other thing yet. i hope that this will have a way of happening to us all. hehehehehe. it may be said jokingly, but i am hoping this will come sooner or later in my lifetime.

Pretty_angle, it would be better if money is spent on real estate to generate more money, after that she can keep donating to charity. There will be more to donate instead of less because you had more money to invest with.
If you donate right away instead of putting the money to into use to generate more money, it may be just a one time thing. Better to be earning more so you can keep giving don't you think?

I would go on a crazy shopping spree for a like a couple weeks and get all the things I've wanted for the past couple years. I would buy a 1967 mustang, about 10 pairs of puma shoes, 5 pairs of nike shoes, a couple reeboks, I would buy a few things for my computer, a bigger aquarium for my turtles, maybe a few new hats?, then I would put the rest in savings for college and a house.

What a nice thought... Hmmm, allow me to daydream first.. LOLS!
Well, first I will buy a car, my dream car that is. Then My dream house! Then I will invest some money in a good business. Then I will put some money in the bank as a security savings. Some of the money I won will, of course, go to a charitable institution so I can share my blessings to the less fortunate.
All of these things done, I will travel around the world with my family!!!

If assuming it will happen I will share 30% of that to any charity institution and 20% to buy an island and a yatch, for I know I cant consume such huge amount in my life time.... If I will just even put my 50% money which is still $20 million..in the bank for a time deposit at say.... even 12% per annum net of taxes, then therefore its 1% per month so as 1% of $20 Million is $200K per month or that is $6,660 per day can you spend that everyday just for your basic needs? And lastly of course I will invite you to be my guest in my island, so we chat... why you have such wish for me.... lol

Wow, good calculation. hehe. Like you, if i would have a lot of money, i'll definitely buy myself an island. Maybe a tropical island where i can go for summer vacations or even make it a tourist spot. In that way, i could make a lot more money out of it. lol

Oh my gosh! I would save money for my childs education. I woudl save money for me to go to school to learn more things. I would make an emergency money fund. I would put it in stocks, bond, ira's and mutual funds. I would donate it to charity especially ones dealing with kids. I would pay off any debts. I would buy a modest home. Take the honeymoon I never had. /it is a lot of money , but I for sure would have plan of action So I don't spend it all, but I sure would get a whole new wardrobe!

Wow. Nice response. You shouldn't forget to help or to share some of your winnings to the charity. A whole new wardrobe?! Oh my god, i would also definitely have that. hehe. But aren't you interested in having a business of your own since you already got a capital money for any kind of business you wished. Or maybe buy a small tropical island? hehe.. (i don't know if 40 million dollars is enough)

wow, that's great. i would like that to happen to me. what a windfall. with that amount, i know that i can live comfortably from then on. i will get the money lodged in the bank immediately while i will be mapping out plans as to how to deal with it. the money will have to go to more important things and some of it will have to be invested in a good business which can provide me with ample income. from the income derived from it, i can spend some to cover for the more pressing needs of the family from time to time.

I see. Well yeah i think you're right. We shouldn't be too impulsive to buy things that we wanted immediately. Instead, keep the money at the bank first and plan carefully on how to spend the money wisely. I also like to have a business if i had that enough money for a business. Can i ask what kind of business would you like to have? :)

If I would hav won a lot of money in lottery then i would hav been pursuing to complete my dream of a big ecofriendly bungalow with a landscped carved in the same way i hav in my mind. then left amount will be used in beneficial investment. then comes charity as happiness and peace comes in home when u start every work along with some good deeds.

if i win big money in lottery, first thing i will donate around 15 % of money to the some charity or trust. With remaining money i will buy a company which is sick and on the verge of closing. Then i will invest money to make that company again profitable...

Wow 40 million dollars! Well, for starters...I would put it all in the bank and start collecting interest on it right away!
Then I would start planning a nice vacation somewhere that I have always wanted to go...maybe a short trip to Englad or Paris (so I dont have to spend a ton of it).
This might sound lazy but the best thing for me would not having to worry about working. But I wouldnt sit around all day and act like snobby rich people. I like that I would be able to write my stories, and not having to worry if they would sell or not. If they did, GREAT...if they didn't...it's okay because I have 40mil in the bank! lol
Good discussion. I had fun answering. now it really sucks that I wont be getting 40 million! lol

Hehe. It's nice to know that you'd enjoy daydreaming with this discussion. lol. i mean responding to this discussion.
Well, i also wanted to have a trip to england. It's my dream to go there. Cause most top models live there right? Or should i say, best designers. Hmmm, i think it's true that you don't have to worry about working anymore. Great huh. But if that so, you should invest your money to the stock market and let the best financers do the job while you sit having a sip in your expensive cup of coffee. Gee! i wish it's true. lol

wow.. it won't happen to me in reality i think.. but with that amount of money.. i can do alot of things.. first of all.. i'll divide the money into a few portions.. some for donation.. some for personal usage.. and some for my future.. i think i will donate maybe 20% of it.. and then the rest.. i'll figure out what should i do with it.. i think most important is to have an investment to backup your financial status... you're not always that lucky to win right? once you have the money.. it's best if you know how to maintain that wealth.. then you can help more people in the future =)

You're absolutely right. You can't have that luck all the time and you don't know what will happen to you in the future if yoou just think of buying all the things you wanted. And with a continuous making of money from your investment, you can also help others continually and maybe a lot more people could be helped. Thanks for the response and have a nice day! :)

I love travelling.
I would first arrange a world trip fo myself and a fiend ( seperately for my parents)
I would then invest the balance in a bank and povide some of it to charity- and a part of the interest to charity.
I know most ppl may say that u should give alot to charity- but i would give a small amount as I too have some need, right ??

You're right. It's not about the amount that you'll give to the needy, it's the thought that you really wanted to help. Sharing can be small but can make a big difference. AM i right? Thanks for the response.
