when she was born she only weighed 5lb.02oz. after three months she has nearly trippled her weight. I fed her bottle and breastmilk. She is now a year and 8 months old and weighs in at 46lbs., I really don't know how to control this weight gain. she loves to eat and eats health most of the time. she still breastfreeds though!I have a 5 year old also but she only weighs in at 39lbs. I don't let her choose what to eat I often let her eat what I eat, that includes vegies & fruits, but I just don't know where the massive weight gain is comming from nor how to control it. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Honestly hun I would get her into the Doctors as soon as possible to find out why she keeps gaining. It could be a slower metabolism, thyroid, etc.

Thanx for the reply.....She has been to the doctors and I was told that she would shed the weight soon, but it hasn't happened. The only thiing that they could find wrong with her was annemia, she was prescibed supplements and after three months was given a clean bill of health. I don't know, I sometimes wonder about these doctors. THANX AGAIN...

Everyone keeps saying about metabolism but you didn't mention how active she is? If she's not getting enough exercise, that could be the reason she's not shedding the extra pounds.
My daughter is 11 months old & at 10 months she weighed in at a little under 20 lb - sorry for the rough guess but we work in metric!
I guess perhaps she might need a little extra exercise, maybe you could get her out walking & running around a bit more with yout other daughter - that's all i can think of that differs to what everyone else has said.
Otherwise, if that doesn't work, take her to see the Dr & just see what he has to say about it all!
Good Luck!

Thank you for the response, my daughter is actually very active and luvs to play outside, I am just worried about her because I don't know how mucg I can do to change her weight. I am not going to lie and say that she is always on a healthy food track, but even then the one snack that she recieves in a day should not shift her weight change that dramatically. Anyways, thank you for the response, I really appreiate it!

if your not overfeeding her or giving her unhealthy foods there there might be a medical problem here. i'd recommend you go see her doctor to see what he says.

i would remove snacks from her diet, cut down her fruit and starches but still get the RDA's of each food group. i would limit her intake. when she wants to eat and it's not meal time give her something to do not something to put in her mouth. go to a different dr asking for a second opinion. you definately need some medical answers to your questions.
