What is it? Does this name embarrass them? How did you come up with this name?

My son does have a lot of nicknames. Such as big rice, as he can eat a lot and looks bigger:)

Well I ahve 5 kids but the oldest 3 have just shortened versions on their names except my son (he is the only boy) so we call him bubba or bubs. My youngest 2 have nicknames that we call them most of the time. My 4 years is Duck. She got this name because when she was little she use to squat down and put her hands under her armpits and walk, she looked like a duck waddling lol. We use her nickname so much that when we use her "real" name she thinks she is in trouble. My youngest basically named herself. Her dad calls her "Miss. Em" but a while ago she said something like "I'm Memo", I have no idea where it came from but I started calling her it and now she answers to it. I have no idea if it will embarrass them when they are older but if it does, I will do my best not to call them it in front of their friends. I am sure this will be hard for me since I have spent the last 3 years calling my 4 year old duck and don't plan on stopping any time soon lol.

when my son used to be little I used to call him boo boo or poppins, he liked to until he started school and then he refused to let me call him that after that.

One of my sons is called Pépe, and I call him Pepote. And it seems to be my prerogative to call him that (it doesn't have any special meaning.) It's just that it's only me who is calling him that what makes it kind of special for both. My other son is called Sebastian, and everybody calls him Tatis. And that seems to be okay, too.

I do have nicknames for my daughter but they are really not nicknames..I call her lots of cute names when I cuddle her and at bed time(it is our special mommy-daughter time:)).But I don;t use them to address her specifically whether at home or outside. As a kid,I myself had a nickname which was not very good for me.I was very embarrassed because I got teased a lot my friends and senior girls in school.so I decided that I would never give my children a nickname which would make them feel embarrassed at any cost.My favourite name for my daughter is "chubbu/chubby" pronouced as in "put",which I think is kind of cute.I came up with this name becaseu she used to be very chubby when she was 8-9 months old, very chubby cheeks and a dimple in her chin which she still has now, though her cheeks are going away:(
