I remembered watching "The Apprentice" on TV in which two competing teams namely "Booksmart" and "Streetsmart" battle each other so as to be hired by Donald Trump.
It ended with the last remaining "Booksmart" team member winning over the last remaining "Streetsmart" team member. Kendra Todd, a real estate broker edged fellow finalist, Tana Goertz to become the third person to hear Donald Trump say "You are hired".
Which quality ("booksmartness" or "streetsmartness") do you think is more important for you to climb the corporate ladder or helps you to succeed in your career? What other qualities are also required?

Haven't watched the T.V. series but I think it depends on the persons goals. Usually, those "booksmart" people succeed in the corporate ladder, it is their ultimate aim. Those that are "streetsmart" end up hiring "booksmart" people because they end up having their own businesses like for example Bill Gates, The owner of Virgin Records Richard Branson, Henry Ford, etc..

Yes, it seems that in the real corporate world, the "streetsmart" such as Bill Gates and Richard Branson employ a lot of "booksmart" employees to run their companies.

I think booksmart is getting the best education for the profession one enters. It is someone who went to all the right schools, and did everything by the book, and worked from the inside to get where he is. Streetmart is someone who succeeds by joining the company when young and working from the inside without the education, making friends, and switching to another company when it is to his advantage, investing his own money to start his own company. I would think streetsmart is best, but sooner or later, he must get a better education. I also think good-will is also required as well as ability to work hard to to prioritize. You cannot be just a workaholic. You must also cultivate the families of those who may work under you.

Yes, ultimately it would be best if the streetsmart can acquire a good education.
On the other hand, I think the booksmart also needs to learn and apply the skills from the streetsmart too.
To succeed, working smart is also important.
