I wouldn't trade my chihuahua as I love her very much. She's part of my family.

No. Often champion dogs have nasty temperaments because of the way they've been bred (not all, im not generalising). My dog is special because of his character and because he isn't perfect for his breed type, a perfect dog would be great to look at but would it have a nice personality/character?

I've noticed that show dogs often have BETTER temperments because they are bred specifically for their good temperments, as well as health. Show dogs also tend to be better socialized as they "get out" more than your average pet, and have to be used to having strangers touch them and be around other dogs most of their lives. I don't know what champions you have been around, but having shown dogs for nearly 10 years I'm saying this from my own experience. I've met maybe a couple of individual show dogs that didn't have solid temperments, but those are usually eliminated from breeding programs quickly. A breeder's reputation is on the line with every litter and breeding dogs with bad temperments is only going to make the breeder look bad.

Right you are, that's the main thing that you need to keep in mind.

I guess I wouldn't have to because my dog is already an AKC champion.

There is no way that I would trade my dogs for a champion dog. I wouldn't even trade if lots of money was involved. My dogs are a part of my family and I will never give them up.

not in a million yrs! I've got two dogs and they may not be "champions" as far as breeds go blah blah blah but they are MY champions and I love em :-D Trading for something "better" isnt possible cause IMO they already ARE the best

no way! our pets are members of our family! they might as well be our kids! too big of an emotional attachment to just trade away cause another dog has a paper saying its a champion..being a champion isnt what makes a family pet. its their personalities.

Good grief no! Your pet is part of the family - I don't have a dog but my cat is like my 3rd child.
