I signed up to receive a newsletter from this online business a few weeks ago but I can't seem to find any real information about the business. They claim to have a database of over 7,000 freelance jobs but you have to pay a fee to gain access to the database. They have sections for such freelance jobs in the ares of Writing & Editing, Design & Illustration, Web Design, Web Development, Photography, Video, and Admin & Support among others. My questions are: Does anyone know anything about this business? If so what is/was your experince? Have you received payments? What cut did GoFreelance take for their service if any? I would greatly appreciate any information.

I did the same thing and I think they just took my money. I used the same company that your using and I don't even understand how it works because I've been sending emails out to people and i haven't made a thing from it. I think that their just taking peoples money personally. If you haven't signed up please don't because its a waste of time to me and all that work i did and no money i'm highly upset about that.

Thank you so much for this information. I have not signed up to pay any money yet - I can't afford to be giving my money away for nothing. I am also unsubscribed from their newsletter, I figure two people have said it's a scam that's good enough for me.

No faith ,Im very sorry but i do not know anything about that.I have dial up and its slow as you know because i believe you said you had it too.I can barely catch up to mylot and i haven't done that yet.Mylot is becoming a full time job just answering post,i don't have time to post for answering questions..Be careful where you send money though,be sure and check out the site very carefully, there is so many scams out there. You are a very sweet person and i would hate to see you get taken by one of them.Check the Better business (BBB) before sending money..good luck dear....

I know I could spend all day on myLot but afraid without referrals (I have zero) I certainly don't earn enough here to live on. My regular writing job has been good but I would like to find something such as data entry or editing where I didn't have to do so much research and use all my creativity - kind of a break from writing but still earning.

Sorry, I have no info on GoFreelance. You are wise to insist on some good references before you proceed. There are so many scams online - always be very cautious before paying for any of these opportunities. Hope you get your answers. Have a great day.

Thank you anyway - I am always very leary of any place that asks for money 'first'. It would be great if it was for real but not sounding like it is.

Thank you kathy I do love doing the newsletter but that is for God, not for money :) I do need a little more income than what I'm bringing in right now as I am praying I will be able to buy the house I'm renting right now.

i would suggest you look for other sites that won't ask you for money to give you leads on where to get freelance work.try associated content, they will pay you for your articles or orble.com.get into some sites where you can bid your work.good luck, faith.

I am actually working on some articles for AC but was hoping to find something a little more 'regular'. I've not heard of Orble but will check it out - thank you for the suggestion.

my dear friend I signed for their newsletter some days ago but I have just decided to cancel my subscription. I think they are only cheaters. they promised to send via mail news about freelance jobs but actually they ended up only with asking money to sign for receiving their service. but I don't trust them for giving any service but stealing my money. call me wary but I have no intention of losing my time over people and services like them have a nice day

I'm glad to hear this - not glad it's a scam but to find out before I signed. I've wondered myself because I was under the impression the newsletter was to 'provide information' but the only thing I've gotten for several weeks is 'this job is available if you sign up'.

Rule of thumb in freelancing: Do not pay for anything. My brother works with a number of legit freelance online organizations that provide excellent information and networking. Try Freelancemoms.com and WAHM.com. Since you have such extensive experience, you may wish to try one of the auction freelance sites: Guru.com is a good one as is Freelanceworkexchange.com. They do charge fees, but they work in much the same way as ebay and you bid for the jobs you want. Good luck to you

cyntrow, I visited freelancemoms.com but it seems that the website is only about links related to freelance.

Yes, I do want to know more about freelance stuffs. I've tried some websites that are bragging about their huge database, etc. But in the end, you will have to pay for a certain amount in order to access their database OR you will have to bid in order to get the freelance job. I don't like bidding a freelance job because it is often based on the lowest bidder.

If you cannot find any credible information about this company, it may be one to stay away from. I have not personally ever heard of them, but I know from past experience, if they are credible they will be out there and others will know about them and they will have credentials to check them out with. Good luck Faith.
