Train of Life
Some folks ride the train of life
Looking out the rear,Watching miles of life roll by,And marking every year.
They sit in sad remembrance,Of wasted days gone by,And curse their life for what it was,And hang their head and cry.
But I don't concern myself with that,I took a different vent,I look forward to what life holds,And not what has been spent.
So strap me to the engine,As securely as I can be,I want to be out on the front,To see what I can see.
I want to feel the winds of change,Blowing in my face,I want to see what life unfolds,As I move from place to place.
I want to see what's coming up,
Not looking at the past,Life's too short for yesterdays,It moves along too fast.
So if the ride gets bumpy,While you are looking back,
Go up front, and you may find,Your life has jumped the track.
It's all right to remember,That's part of history,But up front's where it's happening,There's so much mystery.
The enjoyment of living,Is not where we have been,It's looking ever forward,To another year and ten.
It's searching all the byways,Never should you refrain,For if you want to live your life,You gotta drive the train!

Hi Weemam, Yes I would have to agree with you in regards to this as this was a beautiful lovely story of life and I enjoyed it very much and it is true that life passes ever so quickly that we had best drive our own train and drive it the right way and not look back but try and improve everyday that we have in this wonderful world of ours xxx

Those words are so true weemam, and should make us all want to sit down and take stock of our lives. The past is gone and we have the memories, but we need to look to the future and enjoy everything that comes our way. Grab hold of life and run with it!

What a great perception to have on life, it's true I am guilty of spending too much time looking back and living and dwelling in the past that I don't notice the future and what is around the corner for me. I think I am like an express train going too fast and not slowing down appreciating the finer things the positive things in life! Thanks for sharing my friend x

It didn't exactly bring tears to my eyes, but it certainly rung very true. What IS the point of looking backwards when you're still going forwards? Yesterday is done but tomorrow is the unknown. It's quite exciting to look forward to what tomorrow might bring, for nobody really knows what's around the corner.

This is a very nice description of what our life is really all about. We can never have a smooth line. We need to curve, bend and jump along with each bumps. I wish though that I can have that kind of positive outlook in life. I refused to look back at where I came from. Too many sorrows in there. But it is so hard to keep your focus straight ahead. How can one bunny conquer the world alone. I guess I need a dosage full of courage to continue my journey.

A very lovely message.Life is all about moving ahead.Even if we want to stand still,we can't do so ,till the life force is there inside us.Life is like a brooke,a stream,always flowing ahead.But sometimes we need respite and sit back to rejuvenate,and it here we ponder about what we are and whther we are on the right track or not.We must focus on where we are running to and to prevent from falling face on,the wisdom of past experiences come to our rescue.:-)

Hi Weman I just sent this to all my brothers and sister and Aunt. thank you so much it is a great poem I recall reading something similar years and years ago because it had the you gotta drive the train, as a mater of fact I am sure it was in my grandmothers autograph book and that was dated around 1910- 1914 when she was in school and shortly after, I do so miss her and her wonderful stories. Thanks for the memories

Yeah! So nice to read this, thank you very much for sharing this here. Actually while i was reading i imagined myself riding on that train of life, not really on the engine but nearly front lol! I could see each phase of my past life and realized how beautiful Life is! There might be bumps in it that we need to pass but these will help us to grow stronger in life.
