Should a mother be parted from her child simply because she is a apostate?

Recently i received a link from a friend of mine with regards to the above (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgnncfYRPxk) The link leads you to YouTune on a short video clip by Al Jazeera on apostasy in Malaysia. This is a case where by the mother denounce Islam as a religion. For that she got her child parted from her while they place her in a rehab center. Her husband is not allowed access to her nor to his child as well. I find this very troubling and over the limit! Parting a child from her parents is totally inhumane and is definitely not taught by any religion what so ever. Why then does the sagely Ulama's in that country do it? Do share your thoughts.
