Sinus Infections

I keep getting sinus infections. Every two months or so, I'm going through it again. Last May I had my face opened up and all of the insides of my sinus cavity scraped out because antibiotics were not effective against that infections at all. In December I had another infection and took Levaquin for it which worked great. Three weeks ago I had yet another infection, got a "Z-pack" for it and it seemed to work during the time I took it but two days later the infection is back full force. Is there ANYTHING that can be done to prevent these other than treating allergies which we are already doing? I had p.e. tubes twice as a child and was supposed to have them a third time but we had to move then at the new place they said I was too old for them. It seems like most of my infections build up fluid behind the ear. Anything that can be done about that as an adult?

Well, if you can figure out how to keep it from happening again, I would be SO grateful.

Yep! I had terrible sinus conditions for about 59 years when I read a doctor's "DIY" relief formula. It is: A saline nasal spray: Mix 1/4 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. baking soda in 8 0z. lukewarm ( I use distilled ) water. Use a spray bottle or dropper to rinse each nostril. I use nasil spray bottles that I emptied before, sterilizing with clorox (about 2 TBS per gallon water). Sterilizing with 3% peroxide will probably work also, as I read that diluted 50/50 water/peroxide could also work. See this on my website: http://www.hometyme.com/peroxide.html I use the spray bottles because I spray the saline solution into my sinuses daily. It's cheap - waste it! I don't have sinus problems now.

This does not sound like Fun, and hope that you are still not suffering from them my friend. I know that I have other issues to deal with all the time where I have to worry about Antibiotics and such and know what it is like to feel like they are not working as well. But something like this can be quite annoying, and all I can say is I hope they can help find something for you that works.

hi Your problem is one of the common problems faced by many. But one thing I can tell u is that most of us think that sinus problems do occur because of cold. But it is not so. Even hot climate do trigger sinus inflamation. Basically the sinus problem occurs when heat and cold of the body is unbalanced. One simple breathing exercise which can cure sinus is alternative breathing. Sit comfortably in a chair ensuring that your spinal cord is straight then inhale thro your left nostril closing your right nostril with right thumb after inhaling close the left nostril with your right ring finger and exhale thro your right nostril. Then inhale through your right nostril and close your right nostril with right thumb and exhale thro your left nostril. Repeat this process GENTLY for 5 to 10 minutes daily. Please ensure that this is done before meals. This will balance heat and cold in your body and you will never get sinus attack again
