I just want to know if there is any difference between hosting my website on linux or windows, which is developed in php, mysql? Do I face any disabilities with particular hosting platform? Let it be any language or software I use, is there any difference of using different servers?

Hi. the main difference i think is in the scripting language. If you use php then your choise is Linux. If u use asp the you chose windows. Other stuff is more or less the same, depending on host provider.

Yes. Linux hosting can usually be a little cheaper. It depends what kind of site do you have, so you can than chose your hosting platform.

There is a major difference between hosting on Linux and Windows.
The first thing is, when hosting on a Windows server, it is some sort of more expensive as the OS is not free as compared to Linux. Another thing is, Linux gets less viruses as developers develop more Windows virus (your server may be attacked).
What's bad in Linux is you can't migrate to ASP, ASP.NET and other Microsoft Server Technologies.

The only real difference I know of is that with Windows hosting you can use some of the special features of MS FrontPage. Besides that, most of the internet is run on Linux and it is shown to be more stable in a lot of things as far as the web goes.
If you aren't using FrontPage then go with Linux.
