Hi, I too was unable to read and write Malayalam, still it was my basic language. As Malayali born in Kerala. As I was schooled in Central Sylabus was unable read and write Malayalam even though I could speak it. So my mother used to teach me during my vacations. I was so eager to learn and now I could read and some how manager to write too. Eventhough I lack bit in writing Malayam. My mother used bring though 1st Standard and 2nd Standard Malayalam book and also small books are available that has transaled Malayalam to english. For speak in Malayam I taught my Hindi speaking friends a bid of Malayalam too. In online audio versions are available I do not know which sites provide it. Still audio versions are available mostly got from some of Kerala's sites or malayalam sites. Wish you all the best for better start and sucess in this venture.
