yes i have heard about it..i was working at one point of time for Norwich Union Direct and came across a customer who had done a modification on his car to make it run on vegetable oil..it seemed to us at first that he was kidding but later discovered it was actually true..

It's been around for a wile, a lot pf people have been modifying their cars to run on vegetable oil, one guy goes past restaurants and asks for their used chips oil... they give it to him for free and a lot of it, then he filters it a real lot... and uses it on id modified car. All he did was add some things to his normal diesel car. Unfortunately it only seems to work on diesel cars. So all us gas cars still need to find a solution );

Yes I've heard about this, but it's actually not going to be any better for the environment and it won't make us any less dependent on oil. This is because it takes a lot of oil to actually process the vegetable oil into a usable form. Furthermore, vegetable oil cannot be transported via pipelines so there would have to be large fuel consuming trucks just to transport the vegetable oil around. If vegetable oil fuel became wildly used, things would remain about the same if not worse.
