Hey, this is a good one, Weemam. Now, let me think....
How about a gold, diamond encrusted comb and mirrored compact, so she can keep her hair in place and keep the shine off her nose. Then, I would imagine she might have some tissues, or a hankie with the royal crest on, and some baby wipes to cleanse her hands with after shaking all those hands of the general public. A speech, which has been prepared for a later even. A pair of gold scissors for cutting ribbons at openings and a spare hat pin to keep her hat in place when it's windy. I rather think she would swat Philip with her gloves.. rather like swatting off a bothersome fly! ha ha ha
A good discussion, Weemam... thank you and Brightest Blessings. x

A whip oooh weemam you are naughty! You wouldn't hear me coming out with those sorts of suggestions ;0) OOoer. No I reckon she keeps her sarnies in there, you know the cucumber ones and a flask of hot earl grey for when she needs lubrication, she probably has handcuffs in there for Philip ;00

I think she will have her identification card in there, incase the Princess and the pauper kind of thing happen to her...lol. Add a cellphone too incase she gets lost in the crowd and her bodyguards won't be able to locate her. Or some medications for her to take, incase she gets dizzy or gets tummy trouble from eating so much.

The Queen is one person whose never going to get lost in a crowd. Any meds she'd need would be with a staff member who would meet her where ever. This lady is one person who is always in clear view of her body guards. I'm thinking she keeps pen and paper, lipstick and maybe a wallet.
Then again it could be simply for show.

I thought you would carry a pepper shake. Just in case she gets separated from her bodyguards and she needed some pepper for her omelette. What were you thinking of anyway? :P

probably an expensive lip gloss/lip balm just in case she's feeling dry somewhere, a disposable towellet for emergency needs, or her personal pen maybe.
nice discussion you have here.

@rebelann like I said, it is considered unlucky to not have at least a coin in a purse... Now, I know that she carries the purse as a signal to her staff, don't remember exactly what the way she's carrying it is - let me go look it up...
Queen Elizabeth II's iconic black Launer Handbag isn't just for carrying around an extra pair of glasses and some cash — it has a much bigger role. How does the queen use her purse to send secret codes to her staff and ladies in waiting? Find out, here.

Well I know I am a little late but I am still getting caught up, sorry. I think that she would have the normal things powder, mascara, lipstick, and perfume. Maybe tissues. I also think maybe she carries some reading glasses? Oh and also some race info on her horses to read when traveling, I have heard that she loves her horses.

Yeah, she probably does keep at least a lipstick in there but any makeup touchups would be expertly done by a staff member so no need for that kind of thing. Reading glasses is a good one, I'll be she does have those in there.

That's a really good one, fake roaches could create a diversion.

Perhaps a pair of ear plugs! Or maybe a bar of choccie to keep her energy levels up!
LOL! My serious guess would be that it is purely an accessory. Might have a hanky or pack of tissues in there! But definately not the front door keys!

Hmmm, that sounds reasonable but I'll bet she also carries lipstick with her and possibly a pen and some paper.

Hello weemam. I have not actually seen the queen's bag, hehehe. I think there is absolutely nothing in her bag except a pen...lol. To sign autographs ;)
Using a bag for someone of her status is just part of the ensemble of being who she is I guess. THanks and have a great day!

I have allways liked and respected Her Majesty very much. She has been a good leader. I think that she carries a handbag just to have a few items of makeup. She always wants to look her best.

You are probably right. I would think she'd have pen and paper in there as well.

She probably has an iPod to watch movies on and listen to music....a PDA, she is a busy woman -- she can keep track of her schedule, read ebooks, has phone numbers to call friends. Can't forget a cell phone and of course she will need a portable game device to help pass the time.
Don't forget some tylenol and of course a handkerchief and maybe other items for personal needs - makeup, comb, a candy bar.

Don't know about all those gadgets, she's not a young woman.

some of the comments are very funny
I think she carries:
Incontinence pads - in case of accidents
Spare pair of knickers - in case of accidents
Lipstick - red, for touching up make up
Fresh breath mints - for meeting important people
Keys to the palace - Philip might lose them

I have always been a hopeless Anglophile, so believe me when I say that I was thrilled to see the Queen visit our country. I got a lot of negative feedback from almost everyone I said this to, but I just love her. She is such a lady! I think her strength and courage are admirable. I think that she would carry in her purse the prerequisite lacy hanky, maybe breath mints, and something to read.

That sounds reasonable. I would think pen and paper would be in there too.

I think maybe a handkerchief in case something gives her the sniffles, and nothing else. As for Phillip as thick headed as he is it would take more than a whip for him - a ballbat up the side of the head wouldn't faze the arrogant man.

I think she carries little tupperware like containers full of nibbles. Some are for her and some are for her many Corgies. None are for Phillip! He can fend for himself!
