Health Issues and Emotions

I beleive that a lot of illness and sickness is the result of emotional issues that have not been resolved. I know many of you are suffering from various ailments. It pains me to see others suffering, especially when I cannot fully understand what they are going through. Do you believe there might be a connection between emotions and sicknesses? I have been running into stories about people having health issues as the result of emotional problems. I found this web site that explains EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) which some of you might wish to explore. I have no connection to the site other than wanting to help people feel better. The link is http://www.emofree.com/ . Any comments are welcome.

I just wanted to add that even when I was in nursing school (many moons ago!) it had already been researched and proven that nerves play a HUGE role in asthma. We also have much research to show that mothers who are nervous nellies tend to have children who grow up with more illness.

I think more on this will come to light in the decades ahead.

Hi crazynurse. That makes sense as soon after my family immigrated from Greece to Australia I became a nervous kind of kid and was afflicted with bronchitis and asthma - as I grew I didn't suffer from it anymore. In Greece I was a really healthy kid.

I think this was so sweet of you, to post this to help others. What a thoughtful man you are. I do believe that emotional stress brings on physical illness, as well as mental. The stress wears on one's body. Instead of rushing to pop a pill, we need to learn how to relax, and let go. Have a blessed day my friend. I rated you a + as always, great posting. Thank you.

Good morning Sigma, Thanks for the EFT link. I am a big fan of two professionals who ascribe to the principles of emotional roots to illness. The first is Louise Hay, who began exploring the link between emotional distress and disease as she battled cancer back in the 80's. She has written several very good books about the emotional sub-causes of many illnesses. In fact, she is the starting point for much of the research that has been done linking emotion and dis-ease over the past two(+) decades. The other is Dr. Mercola who is an avid EFT promoter. Mercola is a board certified Illinois medical doctor, who has chosen to focus his medical practice in naturopathy and EFT. Very interesting guy. Both have newsletters, one free -- the other for a small fee. If anyone is intrigued by your post, and would like to explore the possible link between their own dis-ease and the possible emotional links, either of these two are a great starting point. Louise Hay might be a better starter for those just delving into this psycho-physical link. Websites: http://www.louisehay.com http://www.mercola.com Thanks again for posting this Sigma. Obtaining an understanding of the emotional undercurrents of our illnessess is a VERY empowering first step. Best wishes to all!

I think you are probably right .. I used to make myself really quite depressed thinking about somethings .. things I could never change even if I wanted to .. but once I decided that I wasn't going to fret over it anymore I can genuinely say I felt a kind of 'healing' took place .. I waited for a really windy day .. then I went ans stood outside and shouted, really shouted out, all my anger and frustration at this person .. I'd also written everything down .. and I RIPPED that sheet of paper up into tiny fragments and scattered them in the wind .. I came in feeling 10 foot taller and 100 stones lighter .. that nasty chip on my shoulder hadn't exactly gone .. but it wasn't anywhere near as nasty as it had been before ..

I think that this can often be the case not always. Any sickness can take a tole on our bodies thus after a while it can cause our mental health to have problems. Often the problem starts with a physical illness then progresses to the mental health problems. I have had chronic pain for over 20 years and as a result, I am starting to have depression and anxiety. The Dr said taht this is the hardest of the mental health problems to help. Because after the mental health is under control, the chronic pain is still there. So as a result the depression and anxiety are always just lurking in the background really to resurface again. Where as when the problems begin with the depression and/or anxiety, when they are under control the problem is undercontrol. Does that make sense?? I am not sure I know how to explain it.

I hope you can find an answer for this problem. 20 years is much too long to be suffering.

Well, since I had ended up in the ER last week due to a panic/anxiety attack (thank God it wasn't a heart attack) I would have to definitely agree with you.........but your emotions are controlled by your brain, just like depression and such, so it's still going to be tough to change things. I did go to the site and sign up for the e-mail thing. Can't spend the money I don't have on the other stuff. Did you get the other stuff? If so, what did you think? Is it worth it? Is it a waste of money? Let me know. Thanks for the info. on the site too!!!

I haven't spent any money on this yet. I might in the future. I think it would be worth it, but for now, it is on the back burner. Maybe someone can find some help by buying the CD's.

I just got the e-mail from them, and downloaded the "program". I glanced at it quickly, and it looks good. Seems that they want to push the books and audios and videos and stuff, but there seems to be some interesting content - just need a chance to look at it.

I agree that many health ailments are emotionally induced. For example, stress can lead ot hypertension and heart problems, and grudges can lead to cancer. I've heard of EFT and have gotten some results with it myself. I worked through some old relationship baggage by tapping on it. Bottom line is that happy people (truly happy people, not people in denial) have better quality lives--physicall and emotionally.

I am glad you have gotten some good results from EFT. I agree that those who are able to let go of past mistakes and bad feelings can emotionally heal themselves.
