Do you plan on watching Tuesday, May 8th Oprah?

It is a hidden camera that videos a very traumatic situation of a woman being abused by her husband. He does this regularly. I'm not sure what they hope to get out of this but it does look absolutely horrible to watch. I'm not sure I can actually watch someone be abused, knowing it's truly happening.
Will you be watching?

No I won't be watching. It's deplorable that
my fellow man would do such horrific things.
Unless I witness it first hand and can do
something about it, I don't need to see it
sensationalized on Oprah. I know she means
well but it's still all about ratings. She
doesn't need to show videos of abuse to get
her point across. There's much more discreet
and intelligent ways to do so.

Oh I agree but sometimes I do think that she does make a big difference in other people's lives with the things she brings out on her show. I think she basically has good intentions, although I'm certain ratings has a ton to do with her choices.

Oh I agree. She does make a difference quite
often. It's just once in a while she gets a
bit too Maury or Jerryish. Not in the same
league at all but at times discretion is the
rule.

It was very sad indeed. I cannot fathom any human being treating another human being that way. It's amazing.

I watch Oprah everyday, whether I want to watch what she is having on the show or not, mostly the noise entertains me but every once in awhile I will take time out of my busy day and watch what she has on, I am sure this is not going to be fun to watch so I will probably only catch half of it.

As I automatically watch Oprah everyday does not mean I waych the programs all the way through. If I don't like or find the topic interesting then I quit watching so it will be the same tomorrow. I get more upset at animal, elderly and children abuse than adult abuse for the simple reason, to me, if you stay with a man after the first slap you are only asking for more. Children and animals cannot defend themselves these shows break my heart.

I won’t because I’m working- I wish I would have dvr’d it- I think it will show all the people that are being abused there is a way to get help- I’m sure they will put a spin on it and show her leaving and getting help- I’d hope so anyways- Maybe it will show all the abusers out there- what they are doing- and they will stop. I’m not sure- but it is informative. I would tape it so that if it got to bad I could FF it to the helping her part.

I did watch it, I don't turn my back to it it. It happens every daym every hour every minute. Women, children and even men are being killed right here in the USA daily by this kind of behavior and we are turning our back to it. The governmnet is turning their back to it. Funding is being taking away from shelters that and organization that help women and children that are trying to leave these situations. Oprah is bring reality to your living room.

Oh I agree that she does help to bring it out into the public. I just get so upset seeing it and while I know there is so much involved in it all, mentally, I also tend to get very angry with the abused person because they take it over and over and over. I understand they cannot make the choice to leave for various reasons, it's an illness on BOTH sides... the abuser for being abusive and the abused for accepting that this is all they're worth. I did watch most of it and it was heart wrenching indeed.

It is reality for so many people. I applaud Oprah for bringing to our living rooms. It might help some reconize a friend who is living with this and needs help but doesn't know how to ask for it. Some are so controlled that they can't ask for it, that's why it is important that we are able to to reconize the signs.

I can relate to your comment. I try and avoid any situations that bring back many bad memories for me of being abused, as it is very traumatic for me. I even stopped speaking to my ex-husband for the same reason. My daughters are older now, and they can call them on their own to talk.

I watched it as well - very very VERY sad. I don't think I stopped crying the whole time. I am also going to watch the other show she will be airing with the interviews she had with the two children. My heart hurts so badly for that woman and those two kids.
