Okay so a lot people including myself have waited at midnight for the books. Do you plan to do it when this one is released? Any special gathering you're attending? Book release parties? Dressing up? Basically what do you plan to do on the day and the days leading up to the release of deathly hallows? I'm probably going to a part at a local bookstore in the place I'm moving. I move next month. A few of my brother's friends are dressing up, and he's going as a death eater. I'm not sure if I'll dress up. I do know whatever is going on in my life at the (I'm starting to look for work as soon as I move) I' do my best to get out of. After all this is the last time i'll ever read a harry potter book with fresh eyes, I want to enjoy it to the fullest. We'll probably start the day by going to see order of the phoenix at the movies the move on to the party. I said I wasn't going to wait for the release of this book whe they released the last. It was so unorganized. We waited over six hours and we didn't even get to be first, a lady who showed up 30 minutes before the release got the first copy. She was terribly rude about it too, and after 6 hours in walmart I was pretty ticked. Why do they move the line from the back of the store to the front, 10 minutes before the release every release?! Any way i'm saving myself the trouble and putting out $45 for the book and $10 for the cost of the party. It should be considerably less crowded then and hopefully more enjoyable.

that sounds kinda fun :) I've never really been into dressing up but it's always interesting to see everybody who does! I'm not one for crowds so I just pre-ordered my copy online and am gettng it couriered to me. It means I won't get it on the Saturday but on the Monday, but thats okay i can handle a couple more days! I saw scenes of the last release and it kinda scared me lol so I think I'll stay away!

Imagine a voice over an intercom, "We will be moving the line for the harry potter book to the front of the store next to photo center. Please calmly make your way there in an orderly-," and they're off. About 250 people more then half of them children, most of them hyper and excited running through walmart in the middle of the night. It's lucky nothing besides some merchandise gets hurt. But then again it's all worth it, gathering together with tons of harry potter fans in your area, getting to discuss the books and swap rumors. It is really fun.

eek that doesn't sound like fun at all! I'd much rather have the courier man deliver it to my door :)

I've gone to a few release parties myself. The first one I went to was for the 3rd book. Each time I am amazed by the mixture of horribly rude people, really kind and inspiring people, and the either great or terrible way that the event has been organized. My best advice to you is to stick with a smaller store or a store that has been doing midnight release parties all through the book series. For instance, Barnes and Nobles has it down to a science now. I stopped waiting until midnight for the last two books because it would kill me to get my book home only to fall asleep before I had a chance to read it. The parties would wear me out and then I couldn't enjoy the book right away. I do have to admit that it is a pretty wonderful feeling to wake up in the morning and know that you have your book safe and sound and you can read it whenever you want. Since this is the last book, I think I might have to go to another release party for the simple reason that it will be the last opportunity I will have to go to one. Plus, I really love to see the kids in their costumes and the freebies at the parties are pretty good too. I do knoe that the rock band Harry and the Potters will be preforming not too far from me as part of a huge release party in Boston, so I think I might check that out. I might avoid the lines and pick up my bookt eh next morning if I find that the lines are just too out of hand. No matter what though, I am soooooo excited for the last book to come out.

I'm debating. I have not waited at midnight for any of the books and this is the last book after all and I'd really like to get my copy as soon as I can. I mean, this is the last book, the last book that has turned so many onto reading and everything. I don't want to wait for ever to get it. So, I'm going to try and see if that's possible.

I definitely plan on doing the midnight wait..I've gone to Barnes & Noble every other time, so I'm sure that's where I'll be this time as well. B& N had a great system last book where the week before they began handing out wristbands with a number on it representing where in line you'd be. So I ended up being number 80. So we just showed up later and found our spot in line. They had a reaglly great system so I hope they utilize it again this time. It worked really well.
