What do you think makes the game of chess comparable to life?

My partner is a chess player and he loves the game so much he will sacrifice some of our quality time together just to study his strategies and all that. One time we discussed his hobby and thought that life is quite similar to chess. Do you think so?

Yes,I can atest to that! Now I don't agree that he should sacrifice any quality time with you, but once I started playing chess, I noticed that the strategies, that you have to implement, are very similar to lifes' problems! As a matter of fact, I have used some of the strategies in chess, and applied them to my life, and it actually has helped me a lot! For one, I feel confident, I can make quick, or well-thought out decisions,I know my weak points,and I am extra careful in judging how good my opposition is! I really enjoy playing chess!!
