I honestly thought that I had done an article on this already. I checked and cannot find it but I did find the one that I did for gather. So I am going to edit the one that I did on gather. Kids love stories and they can be expenisive to purchase. My personal opinion is that the classics are the best stories. I still have the bedtime story book that we used for our children. We are now using it for our grandchildren. These are very frugal to make and you can have fun doing it. These downloads include most if not all of the classics kids stories from the golden age. The 2005 includes:Story of robin Hood, The Adventures of Tom Thumb, The happy Prince, puss in boots, Pecos Bill, Little Black Sambo's Jungle Band and many more. The 2006 includes:Peter and the Wolf, The Story of Jesus, Uncle Remus Stories, The Twelve Dancing Princesses, Bill and Coo and many more. The 2007 includes:Bozo at the Circus and a new one will be added each week. The list is on the site. This would make great CD's to make for those road trips with the little ones or just to listen to when it is "calm down time" or even at bed time. Enjoy! They would make a wonderful gift for those Birthday parties that come up suddenly. Kids love stories! You can download them here: http://www.kiddierecords.com/ It is called Kiddie Classics. Please comment on how you plan on using them so we can all benefit from each others tips.

The Yearling - image of a DVD cover for the movie The Yearling, starring Gregory Peck, Jane Wyman and Claude Jarman, Jr. about a foundling yearling deer.
It used to be that our elders said we couldn't go back in time to relive our lives so take advantage of what you have now. Little did they know that new technology has made it possible for this old babe to relive her childhood. Thank you for this info...gonna see if I can download some old flicks that I used to love. One especially is My Friend Flicker with Roddy MacDowell, and The Yearling with Gregory Peck, Jane Wyman and Claude Jarmen, Jr.. I cried through most of both movies and I have yet to see them on reruns here in Portugal.

Didn't see either of these in the list but am listening to Lionel Barrymore and Casey At the Bat. Great. Also saw a a few that I will definitely save and others I plan to listen to at least. Had forgotten all about Uncle Wiggley...one of my favorites. Thanks again.

Thanks for the link. I love these stories. I love the classics maybe because that is what I grew up on I don't know. They had everything adventure, romance, suspense, all wrapped up in one.

I think we all grew up with these classics. I heard them as a child and read them again to our children and now our grandchildren are hearing the same stories. Yes they do have everything that you mentioned and you never had to worry about anything dirty being in them either

Uncle Remus and Friends - photo of a scene from the movie....Song of the South...which was based on the Uncle Remus Stories
While I personally do not have any use for such downloads I do find it interesting in that it is one way for some of the great classic not to be gathering dust on bookshelves. It's a marvelous idea and the fact that the classics are free should make it more inviting for parents to get their children interested in what was considered greating reading in the past. Nice post anne. +

It will be great to have them listen to something other than the music that they play.

Wow, you just gave me an idea. It might be kinda' dumb but here it is. There's a place here in my city called the Greensboro Urban Ministry. It's a homeless shelter with a soup kitchen but more than that. They also give groceries to families that are down on their luck. I toured their facility once and they have a huge food pantry. One of the services they provide is giving bags of food for free for families that come in and apply for it. They actually have volunteers who shop for stuff off the shelves and push a grocery cart of food out to the car of the person applying. Wouldn't it be kind of nice to include a CD of these stories for their kids? What do you think? I could burn a lot of these.

I think it is a wonderful idea. You will be giving more than just a CD. You will be giving comfort and joy to a child. That is something that is often missed in todays society

This is a really cool site. I am going to start out by downloading some of these and making CD's for my granddaughters. I think I'll be making some for myself and maybe a couple of other people I know too though. As you mentioned, these will be great to give out for last minute birthday gifts too.
