About 6 years ago I was hit by a car with a drunken idiot behind the wheel. I was a pedestrian. My back and neck have been giving me terrible problems ever since then, but recently the pain is getting in the way of everyday life. My neck and back pop all the way down to my tailbone and somtimes it really hurts. I want to see a chriopractor, but I am not sure if it will really help any more than a physical therapy massage would.
What questions should I ask if I do decide to see a chiropractor or a physical therapist. What do I need to know before going?
Thanks in advance for all your answers and advice.

Chiropractor is a alternative healer who uses combination of methods what are not traditional. The name come from Chiron, The Wounded Healer.Chiron is associated with the natural medicine. You can try. Sometimes they are more effective that the traditional therapists. You dont need to know and to do something in advance.

Try to get someone you know and trust to recommend a good chiropractor. I've been pretty lucky with all the ones that I have seemed and they are very helpful. The main drawback with a chiropractor is that is becomes a life long thing.
What I mean is that they will straigten you out, you will feel better. After you stop seeing them for anywhere from a month to a year the problems will come back and you will need to see them again.
I was in a car accident that left me with some severe injuries as well, so I know what you are going through. What I have found works the best for me is Tai Chi Cha'un. It's a chinese healing form of excericse and martial art, that almost anyone can do.
I haven't had to see a chiropractor now for 10 years, because of the tai chi, so that might be something to look at in the future after the chiropractor gets you straigtened out.

Well I have the same problem you do I was in two car accidents one when I was 11 and the other when I was 17,I'm 27 now and really having a hard time with the pain.
When I was younger I seen a chiropractor, it really seemed to help with the pain in my neck. But I haven't been able to go in years. I have also done physical therapy and it worked well also.
You can try talking to your doctor and letting them know how you pain is and they might be able to help you decide. I know once you try a chiropractor you need to go every week or the pain might return.
With P.T. they might be able to help you learn streches that can help you.
I hope I was helpful and good luck.

Thanks for the info! I think I might try physical therapy first, but maybe I will just go to myprimary care doctor and see what he thinks would be better first.
