It is possible to disable the Windows XP splash screen, which will slightly spped up the overall boot process. Be aware that removing the splash screen will also cause you not to see any boot-up messages that might come up like chkdsk, convert, etc.), but if your system runs without any problems than it should not matter. 1) Edit boot.ini (usually in C:\boot.ini). It's attribute is hidden, system, and read-only, so you have to enable "Show Hidden Files and Folders" at the Folder Settings. 2) At the boot.ini file, add "/noguiboot" right after "fastdetect" Upon restarting, the splash screen will be gone. It can be re-enabled by removing the new switch.
