speaking english have been tough for most students like me. other schools we're great in implementing "english speaking policy" but some students took it for granted. they laugh and mock each other whenever their profesor asks one of them to translate his/her point of view in english. its been hard for people who grew up in a middle class family, most kids from this part of society were satisfied speaking tagalog rather than communicating using english medium. honestly, im one of them. but im working on it. everyday, i read dictionaries and try to memorize 5-10 words each day. and im thankful for findin' out this website, it helps me practice speaking or more so, "writing" my views regarding different topics and discussions. haha!

i'm still a student but id say mylot helps my skills in speaking english.. one of the reasons why most filipino students especially, in grades 6 to high school do not speak in english because they are afraid to be laughed at. isnt it?

yup that's right. but i don't see any reason for that right? i think its time for department of education to implement such policy in order to motivate students to speak english and to enjoy it right. as i have observed, i think "english speaking policy" force them or rather pressure them.

Yep..this site will help us improve our english. I know many schools in PHilippines are implementing english speaking policy no wonder why filipinos are one of the best english speaking country, even the below average people can speak english. Working abroad gives us more advantages. Many people here who are arabic, pakistani, hindi, thailander, etc...are having a hard time to express themselves but not the Filipinos. Even housemaids know how to talk to their bosses in english sometimes they speak more fluent than their boss...haha

If only our government can pattern the way they teach English to public schools like some private schools. The students of the private schools am talking about are not afraid to be ridiculed when talking in English even though they haven't mastered the language yet.

I started out my blog to practice my long rusty skills in writing. In one of my classes for grad school, we had to turn in a paper every week and during some weeks, i'd have problems on what to write about even if it was a simple reaction about a set of readings.
a teacher friend of mine also mentioned that maybe it is the way we are taught English that affects us.
This might become a very long comment, just visit my blog since this is one of the topics i'll be writing about.
