The latest issue of Premiere magazine features a cover story on BATMAN and his upcoming triumphant return to the big-screen after the disaster that was BATMAN & ROBIN. In said article, they talk with Wesley Snipes' arch-enemy David Goyer and writer of BATMAN BEGINS. Goyer drops some hints on the planned second and third BEGINS movies (are they going to run out of subtitles by that point?) including confirmation on some of the villains. Goyer sez: "The next one would have Batman enlisting the aid of Gordon [Gary Oldman] and [Harvey "Two Face"] Dent in bringing down The Joker...but not killing him, which is a mistake they made in the first one...In the third, the Joker would go on trial, scarring Dent in the process." There were hints that The Joker would turn up somewhere in a brief cameo in BEGINS to set up the second film but those reports have been unconfirmed. Batman-on-Film has been reporting since last year that Lachy Hulme and Guy Pierce are the frontrunners for the roles of Joker and Dent/Two-Face respectively. A BATMAN trilogy that sounds incredible? SUPERMAN filming going off swimmingly? Wachowski's doing V FOR VENDETTA? Is it possible that all this comic goodness is actually coming out of Warner Bros? Are we in bizarro world? The fanboys have criticized them heavily (and at times rightfully so) over the past few years but it seems they've finally got their heads on straight. This BATMAN trilogy is shaping up to be the coolest thing they've done in recent memory...
