I just recently read an article, about Australia's lack of water. The article can be found here : www.quazen.com/regional/australia/australia-is-dying.23665 It talks about how Australia is going through it's worst drought in about a century and how the people there are having to limit their water usage to certain times of the day. If Australia doesn't get water soon, the world will be affected since a sizable amount of food imports come from there, not to mention some fashion trends. But what's the cause of this drought? Global Warming? Pollution?

Well the drought broke at last here in Australia - in some areas in a bad way (floods)...but we still have water restrictions. Australia is the driest continent in the world and yet we still insist on using our water to grow crops better suited to other climatesd. Water is so political here - in certain areas in the country, water got diverted for growing citrus trees for example. While most of the country was in drought, Griffith for example was very green...and I saw sprinklers being used during the day for watering lawns whereas in Sydney, we were not allowed to do that even on days when we could water...just goes to show it's unevenly distributed. Takuyar - I found your comment about fashion trends coming from Australia, to be amusing!

The world has always had weird weather but the past few years have have been more dramatic due to the speed with which the changes are happening, there is barely time to adapt to each new change before something else starts. The press also makes the changes more visible. If a drought of these proportions had hit a hundred or even fifty years ago it would have been news in newspapers but fewer people would have known about it, or even associated it with a global issue. Countries that are bordered by the sea, can always revert to desalineization of sea water, even though a very expensive procedure it is better then the alternative, land locked countries on the other hand are not so lucky.

Pollution causes global warming which causes drought. Unforunately, that's what we, humans, are creating. Chains of consequences, ones that usually don't end well. I can only hope that the situation in Australia does improve. Hopefully the government will be able to keep it under control, it might eventually take drastic measures though...

pollutions that sometimes man made it is usually happen now a days in most part of the globe. many of our people are dying with this kind of weather because this will kill lives as well as killing every individual, from livestock and many plants and trees are going to die with this kind of global warming i think. they should reduce using this chemicals. chemicals that will kill us all like gasoline, burning plastics, styro foam and many other non biodegradble materials that scatters all over the globe... we should be responsible before it became late for us...

What are doing over there exactly that causes this? Or maybe that's karma for killing and eating too many kangaroos *LOL* *JOKE* Hmm.. What are they doing there to keep up with the demand of water? Maybe since they have a lot of exports for food, they should import water. There are a lot of countries within their vicinity that are tropical. And in tropical countries,it's raining hard. So they should buy their water then. Obviously they have to shield out a large amount of money. But if they don't they'll sooner or later be extinct.
