Do you know the correct method of cooking instant noodle? Here is the correct method:- 1) boil the noodle in a pot with water 2) once it is cooked, take out the noodle and throw away the water which contains wax. 3) boil a new pot of water (til boiling) and put the noodle into the hot boiling water and then shut off the fire. 4) only when fire is shut off, while water is VERY HOT, then pour the ingredient power/source into the water to make the soup. 5) However if yours is dry noodle like Mee Goreng, you can just take out the noodle and add the ingredient with the powder and toss it to get dry noodles. Enjoy !!

but the soup is nice precisely because of the water the noodles was cooked in. if throw away the water won't the soup taste a little bland? i've always eaten the noodles with the original water coz it'll some flavour to the soup. as for the part about the powder, it's because MSG reacts with heat and some chemical reaction takes place. applies to all food that you intend to add MSG i.e. switch off fire BEFORE adding MSG :)

wow - i learn another new thing. Didn't know that there's a chemical reaction between MSG and heat! But I'm sure those hawkers all add MSG when they cook. And not after they switch off the fire! Another reason why outside food is not healthy I guess. For ze char lagi worst.

Well, when you boil instant noodles, rinsing the noodles in cold water after it is soft actually make the noodles more springy. This is especially nice when you are attempting to make dry noodles, with dark soy sauce, maggi chilli sauce, maggie ketchup and a little bit of pepper. Even if you want to make soup, pouring out the first round of water that the noodles is boiled in and rinsing the noodles in running water, then preparing the soup separately, the additional springy texture in the noodles actually make the meal more tasty! You should try it.

Never thought of throwing the water. Good tip! I think all instant noodle manufacturer should add this step into their instruction. Probably they try to avoid trigerring the consumer not to buy their products ;p
